I owned a Platina 100 2007 model till 3 days back. It had crossed 143000 Km mark and was still riding good. Starts with one kick even on cold days, super low on maintenance and super good mileage. This was the time when it didn't have electric start, DRLs or ABS/ CBS funda. It used to skid initially. But once we changed the tyres, the problem got addressed. Then it was all happy commuting. It had been a great and trusted companion for 12 years. It has aged well and had given a trouble-free ownership through out. But I had to let it go as I wanted to badly upgrade my bike for touring. I felt sad letting it go, but I had to do it. If there is one thing Plantina had taught me, it is that one shouldn't go by the name alone as when I bought the bike, splendour was the most famous bike. This bike had made me to trust Bajaj more. So I set my eyes on Dominar (didn't like Royal Enfields due to many factors; No offence to RE fans). But settled in on an Avenger 220 Street ABS black, due to my need of travelling long distances to work, which is getting delivered in 3 days. I hope it will also be a great companion for years to come. I would recommend anyone to go for Platina if they are considering a VFM bike with good performance , great fuel economy, low cost maintenance, super smooth rides and overall good package. Actually I came here just to see the review of the new Platina to see what changes and upgrades it had got in all these 12 years. My only view is, that the DRL's in new Platina could have been better integrated. Thanks my dear Platina for all the companionship you had given. I will miss you.

Hi bro i have tvs max 100 2003 model. It has over 150000km run(engine work has never been done in 16 Years)..still looks like new. Its mileage from beginning to till the date is same :- highway 55-60kmph & in city around 50kmph. So why your bike's mileage decreased !!!

That 5th gear is really helpful for those who commute inter cities. I do fill lack of it in my passion x pro. BTW my byk does give me 70-73 kmpl on highway and 68-70kmpl in city. Thumbs up for platina's new instrument cluster.

@@dkvlogs4152 Exactly Mr. Kumar, I've ridden Splendor Plus extensively for 2 years, changed to higher CC bikes (FZ, Unicorn, RE STD 350, Okinawa) but returned to Bajaj's platina, now fully happy. One thing, if you go for H Gear, be sure to maintain air pressure as recommended by company & set your shocks to softer setting if you ride solo most times. (Else it seems little hard for solo during little high tyre pressure [either due to local inaccurate fillings / temp rising due to heated roads in day time] )

PREM SINGH . I had bought platina h gear last Wednesday. platina provides upright posture when riding which is a better position for person having back pain. even platina is now not as such as was 2-3 years earlier. it had become more comfortable, easy to handle, taller. it has better suited to me for back problem as doctor has suggested for bike having plain seat and comfort. since te problem to me is from more than 5 years so can't tell how much time it would take to get relief. but obviously I can get rid off some of the causes. and it is the one. so bought platina h gear....

Both are totally different bikes, so, not comparable. One side, platina has sharp torque curve and meant to be run relaxed. One the other side, splendor+ / hf deluxe are much aggressive due to flat torque curve and bit high revving (not like ktm) which is very helpful in the city traffic.

Splendor has quite a few features which usually are useful to rural users, I guess this Platina is targeted towards Tier-2 or Tier-3 cities & not actual rural areas. The lack of carrier space underlines this. A commuter sells by the utility it provides to the end user & not just speed, fuel efficiency & good looks (digital cluster, etc). A farmer wont care if the gets an extra gear or not, he would only worry about transporting 40-50kgs load on his bike tied to the carrier at 30-40km/hr rather than with some trouble on a good looking Platina at 50-60km/hr.

Correct! Inside city or lower speeds, consistent pickup is helpful and splendor+ / hf deluxe are better than platina (due to flat torque curve) as there will be less no. of gear shifts. But when on highway, platina is a bit relaxed if it has extra gear ratios to keep the engine rpms down and speeds up.

we have the same bike. its so light, that its highway stability is absolutely rubbish. the gearing is clunky and notchy and gives many false neutrals. the 3rd gear is good for roll-ons. it's best inside the city. go any further out and it's disappointing. [honest review. cuz I ride it everyday xD]

Do you know why a gearless one is better in the city? Only due to CVT. A 110 cc gearless scooter has average pickup of 150/160 cc manual geared bike, but only up to speeds of 50 km/h. After that speed, definitely 150/160 have a huge pickup. This is only because at every single speed, you will get max pickup for a CVT.

Splendor and Platina both are different. Splendor has one of the strongest build quality in that segment. Whereas Platina is meant for comfort (build quality is ok). They must have compared H Gear with the old Platina instead of Splendor.

Half of Indian kids have learnt to ride bike on splendor.. Their dads, friends dad, uncles so on... We have that soft corner for splendor and we love know someone still buys it and... Technically and emotionally there nothing that will dethron splendor... And way it looks... Every this is just perfect easy on eyes... Hero s only bike which is good looking... Splendor is only bike which keep hero alive and it will continue to do so... Very soon hero will only be producing only one bike that is splendor.... And cycles if u want to consider cycles...

Go for Honda Shine, no vibrations upto 45 km/hr, at 30 in 4th gear on Honda Shine you wont even realise that the engine is on, it's so silent & vibration free.
