Having an exit strategy in the Izumo/Bajie is pretty crucial advice. She can pull-off some aggressive positions pretty well if you go bow-in and just forget the third turret exists (especially if you're the type that gets very impatient with extreme-range engagements, like I tend to be), but, generally, once you get in those situations, there's no way to de-commit-you either get blapped in your turn to flee or you take so much damage that you get killed in the chase that follows, especially with that hangar door on her stern that makes a brilliant flat spot for big shells to go right through.

let me try to explain this Bajie character in more modern terms: he was a high ranking general in the "army of heaven"...yes, literally an army up in the sky. But he turned out to be somewhat of a Harvey Weinstein and was me too'd in disgrace and banished down to earth taking the form of a half man half pig creature. He took refuge in a village where he harrassed and terrorised the village folk for years before he was converted to budhism by a passing monk, who also accpeted him as a disciple / bodyguard. So Bajie escorted his mentor on his pilgrimage to India.

Dude there were 2 kremls 1 Montana and 2 stalingrad I was one of the kremls we all started to push in to a conq a smolenks and a colbert not only we had number advantage but I almost blobed the smolenks with 2 salvos of HE he was retreating like panic retreat I started to push further only to see my teammates do a 180 and turn back why you may ask? I think the problem with this ship is not about it performance, but it about then ship's name. Bajie is the name of pig like character (just imagine typical japan's style orc) from the china famous "Journey to the west" novel (this novel is quite popular in east Asia). He is infamous for fat, lustful and gluttony personality. While he not a bad guys, Bajie probably not the popular character like Wukong, infact most of ppl who familiar with the novel probably hate this guy. That why this ship is good like none exist in Asia server (let's not mention the it overprice tier 9 ship), not sure about other server though.

because WG' fucked up Yuzuru Hiraga's design. Izumo was supposed to have all the turrets facing foward like Nelson/Rodney. And a somewhat different armor scheme. But for some reason they made one of the turrets face the ship itself and it went downhill with poor firing arcs....and for some reason they couldn't make the middle turret rotate 360°, but sure, Russian fantasy ships get 360 degree turrets.

From what i know if mandarin, it would be pronounced similarly to what Flamu said - Ba-ji-e (the E is pronounced separately). But i think it's originally cantonese and then it would be pronounced as Pa-chai (with CH pronounced as in word chalcedony). It would make more sense as the book character (Zhu Bajie) was translated to some languages as Chu Pa-chie or Chu Pa-chien. But this is all from my research, i do not speak either of these languages.

I must have been one of the few that didn't really mind having to grind through Izumo back in the day. Don't get me wrong, once I unlocked Yami I never looked back and don't miss Izumo at all lol, but I usually always did well in her so I think all the hate was from people who never got passed her learning curve.

There was a time when the Izumo was truly garbage. She had basically no armor. And due to an unrelated bug she would take citadel damage like crazy. If you had tried to grind this ship during that time you would have been scarred too. Since they gave her armor and fixed that other bug she is a reasonably good ship.

@@itsmebatman I'm pretty sure I grinded up through the original Izumo my friend because I've been playing this game since day 1 of official release. The IJN BB line was the first line I chose to grind through because even before this game I've been a fan boy of the Yamato class.

@@itsmebatman Like I was saying, I'm not arguing with anyone that she was like a dope ship back in the day or anything, I'm just saying during that time period of everyone hating on Izumo I was actually throwing up good numbers and performances in her. I guess I just picked up quickly on the play style one should adopt for most of the IJN BBs in the line which is a mid to long range sniper role. It's very hard to stay true to the sniper role throughout the course of a standard match with the temptation to get closer to a given situation and/or rush head long into an objective always there. I would see many players rush too close to a patch of enemy ships and think they could hang in there by just bow tank reversing back out, but concentrated focus fire from HE will melt you quicker than most players realized at the time. I also picked up on how good her firing angles were when kiting away from someone, so if I ever found myself in a bad spot where I had moved in too close, instead of bow tank reversing slow as hell and getting chipped down, I would full speed U turn then kite away firing HE and AP depending on targeted ship and their angling. I honestly think back then the major issue was people not knowing how to play the ship, because they didn't have the patience to stay at those longer ranges taking well aimed pot shots with the Izumo's super far reaching and highly accurate IJN shells. If the ship was so horrible back then, how was I putting up purple stats in her specifically across multiple categories on WoWS stats sites?

Lion has replaced Izumo as the by far worst ship in tier 9. It can't a barn door from the inside of the barn, it got a terrible dispersion, for some reason WG raised the citadell, so that you need almost full broadside to use all guns, the reason WG lowered the citadel in the first place. Lion is horrible to play, I removed my 19 point captain from her and ship is a port decoration.

If you want the Conqueror but hate Lion and have the special flags, you can grind it in probably fewer than 20 games. Because now we can run all the economic flags at the same time as well as 8 combat flags. I did that with the German cruisers, from buying Yorcke to researching Hindenburg (no credits to buy yet - lol) in under 50 games total.

Izumo is one of the ideas the Japanese had on the design path to the Yamato. Bajie is compete fiction, no way the Chinese would have obtained a Japanese BB or BB design and built it.
