This whole setup is the brainchild of about 10 yrs of thinking and planning. Having grown up as brothers with the gentleman that owns this setup, it's truly impressive what he's got.

Hello jon what size crew do you run and what is the average production per day on pine and hardwood ?
@jonburkholder64354 жыл бұрын
@@christophermcmahon5532 with 2 guys running it and cutting oak, he can average 3,000. With 3 guys running green pine, he's been able to do 8,000

That is a very cool setup!! The fact that they came up with it through experience is awesome.

That's not a scragg. That's just a baby carriage and headrig.

Very cool set up. I see some scragg mills run a 12’ log and others look like they run 48”? Here we cut pipeline skids 48” that’s why that’s my guess from your video. Is the reason for this with your mill because of less loss due to taper? Thanks

Looks like you guys are cutting pallet stock in the video?

@@flyingpig1073 yes, it's pallet stock

This looks more like a traditional type of sawmill set up and not a scragg type of sawmill.

How is the head blocks moving mechanically back and forth?
@jonburkholder64355 жыл бұрын
There's an electrically powered hydraulic unit on the carriage that runs all hydraulics on the carriage. The head blocks have a geared hydraulic motor that controls the movement

I wouldn’t call that a scragg, just a mini headrig

Yes it's definitely a oxymoron because a scragg mill has two blades the log goes through making two cuts at one time. That's nothing but a single linear sawmill setup. Definitely not a scragg type of sawmill setup.
