I vibe with the critiques. Maybe Baker is pivoting to strobeck style filming because there's no risk. It's hard to come up with new formats and it wouldve been lamer if they repeated piss drunx hijinks filmed on a VX1000 but, come on... this is what we got? The supreme clone joke is pretty spot on bc theyre filming exactly like the other fashion-skating companies. $80 decks lol. I don't think we're the artistic boomers here since this has been the template for 5+ years now and the sigma pov slow zooms are so corny, take me back to Heath Kirchart still cam slowmo clips ffs.

I totally get evolving but this isn't it. The Jacuzzi video is a good example of evolution. It still felt like a Tilt Mode/Enjoi video even though it was still different. They don't need to be drunk anymore but Hijinx is what made the classic Baker videos what they were.

Definitely missed the classic Baker vibe, but I think Max, Casper, Jon Dickson, Elissa killed it. I think this was meant to be a Deathwish more than Baker vid. I think Baker/Deathwish kinda doesn't know what "hijinx" to show and needs to allow artistic input so more neckface characters come in. They would show kids getting sauced but that's everywhere now and people are over it. Look at the response kids had to Kader, he didn't have a part for a few years and smoked some bud and he was "fried". It's bizarre, really. So yeah open the creative floodgates again, give Beagle full creative control, get some more artists in the mix, the video was okay but Baker feels like the logo more than the feeling it used to represent.

The thing that gets me is that making Baker 4 and Baker has a Deathwish 2 shows that they know these were the glory days but using those names and giving us something totally different feels either desperate or out of touch. Beagle having more of a say would be perfect. I firmly believe Baker videos don't need drugs. I watched them so much growing up and I've never even once smoked weed. Baker videos were never about that it was about showing what really happens when you're out skating. You see some wild stuff and have fun in between all of the clips people get. They just happened to be doing drugs and drinking back then is all.
