Bake may just be learning the offense but there is no comparison. He is so much better. Quicker, better reads doesn't lock on the the receiver and follow him the entire time before dink and dunking and then throwing at the receiver's feet. No comparison. Bake is #1

I like that first play from darnold. He was pressured but just stepped up and not having the guy open overthrew everyone so it wasn't picked, Would have liked to see him try for the check down though, pick up a yard or two at least. Great second play in a two minute drill, pick up some yards, don't waste time, and get out of bounds. That was missing from last years playbook. Really good job all around the third play. good protection, he looks off the defense, and goes to thom the play is most likely intended for all along to an open receiver in the middle for a first down. Great protection on that fourth play. don't know how or why he overthrew the pass to the sideline, he looked set and seemed to have good form. I don't know if that was a PI or not on the fifth play, but the ball was severely underthrown and he had all the time in the world to throw it. Really nice run next followed by another really bad pass that should have never been thrown. And upon further review on a close up facebook clip the ball wasn't caught, it hit the ground but dude gave tremendous effort to try and catch it. I don't know why that TD run wasn't counted... Baker had great protection on his first pass but stared down his reciever which is something he needs to stop doing. I don't recall seeing Darnold doing that much, or it could be that I looked for it more with Baker because he is known for it more. Very good pass on the money though. Seemed like he was staring at his check down in the second play too... That HB pass against the blitz was nicely done. I like how he threw it behind the RB with the LB closing in forcing him to slow down and protecting from a big hit (if it were a real contact game) And just when it looks like he's doing a good job reading the field he leaves the pocket for no reason and throws it away when he had an open checkdown to the RB Very nice job on the screen pass Finally get to Bakers bread and butter, a PA quick pass for a nice little chunk and getting out of bounds. Ouch, delay of game followed by a fumbled fake handoff on first and 15. Not at all what you want to see. Very nice shotgun two step and throw to gain back some yardage and not take any chances. Came away with 3. good job Long story short (we're well past that point I know) I wish we could combine Baker and Sam into one QB, taking what each does well would combine into like a top 15 QB I think...

Baker looks better throwing..but Sam is SMARTER. He pushed the ball down the field and got the TD SCORE. That's what you're supposed to do in a 2 minute drill. Baker had 80 yards to go and got 40. The passes looked good, but they didn't move the team enough.

Im a diehard Browns fan... one who isn't a spoiled brat with delusions. I'm 26, and Baker is the only browns quarterback to win a playoff game in my lifetime. I'll always love Baker for that. Week 1, I'll obviously be rooting for my team, and be the happiest if they win. But if Baker starts and wins, it will be exactly what these delusional Browns fan need. I know it wouldn't happen but when I watch Matt corral highlights at camp, I think of Russel Wilson beating out Matt Flynn his rookie season. Flynn had that one small stretch he flashed, so Seattle grabbed him. I don't think our coaches would have the courage to make that choice like Pete Carol did that year. But I wouldn't be mad if they did.

The Ravens have played against Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson. Baker has given MY RAVENS more trouble than Deshaun Watson. I'm glad he's not in the AFC North anymore. It's pretty obvious baker is sharper and has a quicker release. That means he can go through his reads faster which is paramount. He makes decisions with more confidence as well. Darnold TD is meaningless as it was completely luck and not a purposeful completion. Darnold didnt look bad but I didnt realize how much more composed Baker was in comparison

Baker process the game too slow. Quick release or not. It's resulted in him locking on receivers and holding onto the ball too long. These things will stand out more in games when they're playing at full speed.

For being on the team less than a month I’d say Baker is FAR better than Darnold given that SD knows the entire offense. Baker just has an “it” factor that Sam doesn’t. I’d start giving Baker 70-80% of the starting reps. I don’t think it’s close between them.
