Baki is often careless in his fights. Shows that at this point he's still a naive kid. He had the same carelessness in one of his maximum tournament fights. I appreciate how his experience with the death row convicts helped him overcome that flaw. After that, he started immediately going for the quickest one shot attacks against his opponents.

At this point of the series Baki didn't care about fighting for a while, since he was dating with Kozue and all, so he's just fighting to avoid problems or protect her (that's why he teamed up with Shibukawa, and because Reos also play dirty using weapons or raiding them so it's their fault). You can notice how he starts caring about fighting again at the same time he stops dating with her Also I think Baki wouldn't mind fighting him in a 1v1 if wasn't because YANAGI STARTED ATTACKING HIM FROM NOWHERE WITH A KUSARIKAMA xD
