This is best way in our opinion how to bake ambient occlusion map and assign it to materials. 2:15 actually baking starts from here

After watching multiple tutorials over the last few hours this is by far the very best tutorial on KZbin and somehow the shortest lol. Good work!

Glad that there is a new Blender video for V3D!

Nice tutorial! My only minor critique is I enjoy the previous tutorial voice-over. The Russian accent is oddly soothing. :-)

Hi, I've MacOS operative system and this addon for packing doesn't exist for apple, is it fundamental for the final result? Cause my unwrap is different from yours, I try with "smart uv project" but when I'm going to bake anything appear. Thank you

you can use any other addon or unwrap manually, it's not tanget to ao baking.

What is the solution for baking times taking more than 1 hour? Even with 16 samples and margin of 2 it takes 1 hour and a half. I try to bake ambient occlusion on a turret that has many parts. Even with the settings, the baking process takes too long and it does not look well, many dark spots. Selecting one by one and baking one by might be a problem because it has more than 100 parts. Any tips? Please. I find nothing on the web.

You can just join all obcets into one, bake, then save image and reopen your scene without saving it. So you will get one AO map for all objects on the scene but they stay separated.

It represents areas less exposed so it can be used for procedural texturing, to darken areas or give dirt for example
