Please do not use coconut oil in your hair it is probably causing the build ups because it solidifies in cool temperature. You are better off using castor oil or olive oil and rose water. You did a good job with the baking soda tho.

Please. If you use baking soda on your hair, you MUST neutralize the hair with something acidic. Follow with a lemon juice rinse, acv or a very good conditioner. DO NOT USE baking soda alone. It will ruin your hair.

The coconut oil is the cause of the build up. That oil sleep on your locks n is a natural magnet to dust fiber n fluff. Use hot water n liquid soap to get the coconut oil build up out a you locks. Then Try to use a oil that don't sleep to prevent this build up you talk about. Good luck on the hair journey
