+athanatiEllada Yes dear my friend this is an ancient Greek (or Eastern Roman) cultural festival for more than 600 years. However, unfortunately this culture is fading and slowly becoming extinct since the number of Greeks in Istanbul (Constantinapole, Kostantinniyye) is under 2000. I still feel guiltiness for the politically led events like 1955 Pogrom and 1964 deportations on behalf of my goverment and my people. Last year, when I was in Athens on a visit for my friend, I had chance to meet an old gentleman who was origanlly from Istanbul and deported in 1964. That meeting was one of the most emotional moments of mylife. We talked about the past of Istanbul; he told/ depicted me old İstanbul, his youth, his memoirs and I told him about the current situation of Istanbul and how we really missedthem since we knew these people were constituting the main colors of multicolor brilliant Istanbul. Anyway, I am sorry for writing your post about my personal memoirs, but I have a wish from you: If you have any friends/relatives/ neighbours (or even maybe you)can you please tell them there are some Turkish friends in Istanbul missing them? As you see above in the video we also join the karnaval with our Greek friends to make this tradition to survive. We also try to survive the voice of Greek people (Apoyevmatini newspaper, however we just could postpone the closure of the printhouse till last year ). We do not need money, we need your/their presence to continue this traditions. Thank you for your attention. My best and warm regards from the other side of our shared Aegean sea, Erman

Çok güzel bir akşamdı, hala her anısını hatırlıyorum. Ağlamıştım. Özledim. Ne yani bir daha yapmayacak mıyız?
