Kashyap rishi, one of the saptarishi, is the father of Sur-Asur ( gods-demons) thru his wifes diti and Aditi respectively. Diti-aditi are daughters of King Daksha (Brahma's son), the first Prajapati of the Universe. He is the controller of gods power and their activity. He governs the whole universe. I think you understood that curse of ganesh towards moon . light of moon dissappeat gradually .means when we see the moon from earth we can see moon size is decreasing everyday and forms a lunar eclipse and reappear gradually means after lunar eclipse we can see thr moon is increasing in size day by day and form full moon day and that repeats .

Ji is a added to a name to show respect in Hindi same goes for Shree (i think it is a Sanskrit word), 'Shree' is added before of the name 'Shree Ganesh' and 'Ji' is added after the name 'Ganesh ji'. 'Bal' means child/kid. Dev (God) and Devi (Goddess) in ancient time you could call any women Devi (now it's a name, Dev is a name as well). By the way Ganesh ji has 1000 names.

Also, In Hinduism we put ji at the end of those names who are elders from us or for those we want to give respect. Like in English we put sir or madam in front of respected people. Like that we put ji at the end of the names.

The amazing fact - Actual truth of Ganesha's broken teeth is that Sage VED VYASA ( the author of MAHABHARATA) was looking for someone who can help him in writing MAHABHARATA, so Lord Ganesh was selected for that job. Sage Vyasa was narrating and lord Ganesha was writing. At one moment his pen was broken so Lord Ganesha broke his tooth ( sacrificed) and wrote the whole MAHABHARATA with it.
