Steve and Peter were never friends. In fact, the band was formed by Peter and Tony who are friends since childhood. Mike joined them almost immediately, so he would be the other one who had the most confidence in Peter. The only one from Genesis who has always had an excellent relationship with Steve is Phil.

And if you watch any of the band interviews Steve and Pete seem to be on the same wavelength. When Banks yet again mentioned that Lamb was "flawed" Hackett made sure to mention that it's been voted the top prog album ever several times lol. Banks seemed to be the reason Peter left the band. The most tension was with him.

The drum part in this song is absolutely mind blowing. When the tapping solo comes in it is verging on speed metal, but with the bonus of better musicianship. The fact Genesis could do atypically heavy (for the era) songs like this and The Knife, and then contrast them with gorgeous ballads just shows why they're one of the greatest of all time.

@@CocoOPNY you can see him look over to Steve and Mike respectively at parts to cue up. Truly incredible performance from everyone in the band, you can feel them playing off of one another versus just going through the motions.
