The main thing holding the challengers back is the fact they're forced to fight on the enemy's terms instead of their own. They're borderline sniper tanks designed to kill without being detected and if detected to be entrenched so only the heavily protected turret is exposed. But well, here in WT this super range sniper machine fights cqc in a city which it'd NEVER do lol

I was sad when they added the l26 to the mk3 and vickers. Cause the BR increase wasnt worth the round that didnt really change any breakpoints. Both l23a1 and l26 go through T72a's neither go through the ufp of t72b's. So its BR got raised due to a shell that changed nothing about tank v tank matchups. The only thing the L26 is better at is going through the base M1 abrams turret but anything IPM1 or higher the turret cheeks seem like black holes. Yes in the hangar it looks like it should go through but in game the cheeks just strangely absorb it.

Meh just aim for weakspots, it's effortless argue about "XX shell doesn't pen YY tank". Top tier it's this, they are not gonna to make better penetration for any rounds so...it's pointless argue more and more on how APFSDS are unable to pen targets in this game; i give a fun fact about the Challenger 1 just readed yesterday. The L23 was a capable round but they (British) develop also the L26 DU cored APFSDS; firing tests reported this: -L23 penetration at 1000 meters was 450mm. -L26 penetration at 1000 meters was 570mm. Enough to outmatch most of the soviet tanks in both armor and armament aspects. WT it's far away from this because Russian Bias make everything better, even when it's not the case. Source: both Challenger 1 and Chieftain tank books from Haynes with the Tank Museum collaboration. (Really man, just aim for gun/breech and driver vision port, top tier isn't fun anymore...)

​@@Sh-epardNice. Ye the British rounds were not the best at the time in NATO but they were still very capable. Given the better armour array for most of the cold war era 60's to late 80's helped make them more resilient to what the Soviets could fire back at them. Also, thanks for the source. There is some Declassified documents showing very similar figures too. Same for the armour arrays which as usual show in-game armour is off. In the mk2 off by around 100mm and some places about 150mm.

The Chally Mk2 used to be my favourite top tier but they cut the the armour values in half in the beginning of 2021 and I don't really play it anymore because of that. It went from being a slow, but sturdy monster to a glass cannon.

​@@familypickering454The armour ratings are Declassified. Can find some page posts online from people who did a freedom of information request. As known the Challenger 1 mk2 had better frontal and side armour protection in all areas bar the front under glacis than the Leopard 2A4. Approaching 550-600mm in some areas. But generally over 80% was about 500-525mm. This latter part is from someone I know who was in the first Gulf war who I spoke to endlessly about the tank. Said during the conflict they were told to pull back and re-angage if the Iraqi armour got within 1500m because that's when the hull of the Challenger 1mk2/mk3 had a possible chance of penetration. So shows how well armoured it was to be able to withstand the 125mm at such ranges. Capability in protection wise is was a little less protected than the US M1A1(HA). It was the Challenger 2 baseline armour and other specs leaked by an engineer/mechanic who maintained Challenger 2's.

I love the chally 1s they can still fight quite effectively, also can you revisit the strv 122a, I got a nuke in it making that my 3rd or 4th and I do well in it almost every battle

@@jcindbouncy Carry 16 rounds. That way you will only store ammo in the turret bustle. You can trick people by using that deadspace as an advantage when pushing around corners. Other than that, it's your standard Leopard 2. When in a gunfight, after firing, angle your turret slightly, to make it harder for the enemy to breach you. Utilize those turret cheeks.

Apparently the reason the Chally 2 has a slower gun elevation is because its classified. On the Chally 1 they found the actual speed and corrected it, but for the Chally 2 they just increased it a bit so that it made sense but it isnt actually accurate to real life as they can't get the classified data. They really should be about the same.

I love the Challengers Mk 2 and MK 3 very fun Vehicles and ALOT more maneuverable than per say the Challenger 2's 10.0 and 9.7 for Britan is just a very fun tier in general and its nice to see some other people play the Challenger Mk 2' and Mk 3

I used to make fun of the Chally for being a little Chubby all the time. It is definitely sexy but it sure isn't fast. Then I actually went on to play the thing, immediately replaced my Vickers Mk.7 with the Challenger 1 Mk.2. Britain 10.0 lineup is actually fun..the 2 challies and the Vickers add the warrior and the stormer and if you have it the Lynx and the jaguer ..its not a meta lineup but its fun and weirdly better than britian top teir.

Reading of the Chally 1 and Chieftain in these days, and some aspect are very far from the game... Not a surprise honestly, both armor, optics and rounds are far from the reported details in the books; anyway i really enjoyed using both Chally mk2 and mk3 in the past, even with the bugged armor. For a slow MBT, sniping was really enjoyable😇. Maybe one day i will complete british tech tree but i don't want to go bankrupt from it, as i named my 7.3 lineup "Bankrupt" 😐

I'm not a huge fan of Gaijin making all armor irrelevant in upper tiers. What is the point of modern tank design if it can't tank rounds frontally? Do they think modern tank designers are stupid to slow down MBTs with armor if armor doesn't matter?

Due to it's ammo placement, turret armor which is nerfed 2 times(500mm->460mm->430mm) and a playstyle not at all suited for 87% of the maps makes it a niche vehicle. Challenger tanks are the worst MBT style vehicles in the game and the Cr.2's have an even more demotivating stock grind than the Ariete. Its a vehicle that succeeds only when the team around is good enough. I even took this tank myself out after the christmas sales and even now, the amount of premium tanks we see, makes it a turkey shoot. I dispise and feel empathy towards those low lvl players who jump to the deep end only to be picked off by people who've extenssive experience of the game mechanics. Still it doesn't mean it's better than a T-72B, Type-96A, M60A3 or even the AMX-40

That whole bit @ 6:30 shows how fucked this game is, triply so at top tier. You flanked the abrams in what is basically the middle of the map and you're basically already in their spawn. Unbelievably bad map design. So so bad. Just drive straight at the enemy, don't flank, don't use your brain, charge forward, shoot, die. WoT reskinned w/o HP bars.
