One thing I realized today after spending time with an elderly narc relative (for humanitarian reasons only) is that they are constantly trying to make you absorb their negative energy & simultaneously they are absorbing your positive energy. I think you have to do a bit of jedi work to block their negativity whilst not allowing them to absorb too much positive vibes from you. I feel a lot less drained than I usually do after visiting.

It makes sense that narcissists have an attachment disorder because of how they unnaturally discard people with no closure. It's impossible for the human mind to completely just drop someone and forget them; hence because narcissists discard you, they will always have your avatar in their mind.

According to Sam Vaknin narcissists interact not with you, the real person, but the introject of you in their head. Because that introject is perfect in their heads, they are forced to discard you after they learn that you are just a human being with flaws. Apparently, the interaction continues even after you leave the picture and close the door. Hence, the lifelong stalking. I have a suspicion that the more they fall “in love” (idealize) with someone in the beginning - the more brutally they will discard them later on because they can’t stand being wrong. How come they made such a horrible mistake (about you)? They loved you and you did this and that (set boundaries). They feel wronged and played, that you somehow lied to them about yourself, used them, etc. etc. But your perfect introject is still in their head even despite their discard (which is like a prolonged silent treatment/grudge). It’s really twisted… Love-hate. The people you hear they live together with for 20-30 years are the ones they don’t love, it is a pure transactional business for them, that person is their love slave without any boundaries who’s sole purpose is to serve them. Narcissists only love what they can’t have.

Like love hate, or we never even met so his ambiguity made me not know if he liked me. So I took a step of removing my post. He freaked out etc. Found a way to contact him, but he would not respond, instead he cryptically got to me, suggesting my account was not genuine, and, he was right! So? I'd have told him if he only answered my message. So scared to now 'reveal' myself, for as she says here, does he want a fix, or just to 'watch' me etc.?? These people are good, they will get their way, you have to be the one to take the risk, or, I wonder if the guy has a point, where he just won't deal with the ghost in me. A you first situation.

I'm not seeing it that way yet. I regret going no contact now. I have to live with that for the rest of my life. 10 yr relationship, he got lung cancer, we went thru treatment together and then SURPRISE ....he pushed me away. I retaliated by blocking him. 5 months later he's gone forever and I would've wanted to be with him until the end. I feel robbed. I don't expect anyone here especially to empathize with what I'm going thru now. Life is short, love everyone.

The narcissist in my life discarded quite recently. The final message, which I ignored, was one of aggression, and blame shifting to let me know it was all my fault. Interestingly she also said that she wouldn’t be so childish as to delete my number and if one of us ‘felt like reaching out in future that option is there’. Quite clearly intent on adding me to her pile of ex’s ‘just in case’. I’ve deleted everything to do with her from my phone, so i certainly won’t be reaching out 😂

Once I got wind of any potential flying monkeys, I took off publicly and decided to thrive privately/personally. You can feel it. I lost my little brother to suicide, my narc Mom passed away (a whole other healing journey), ghosted by my little sister, let go of friendships and lost most of my family. Reinvention is not for the faint of heart but anyone reading this or for anyone who has made it this far, there is a purpose and you sure are a powerful being. I know I am. Damn. 7 years bad luck turned into 7 years good luck. Perspective is everything. Don’t forget to flip it!

I haven't been in contact with the narc for awhile and have learnt not to reach out anymore but they do have a habit of making contact once in a blue moon. But even without contact or when they are silent I always felt like they are watching in some way. This is why i haven't posted anything on my socials or limit what i post for a long time because i want to keep my current relationships (whether it's with my current partner or family and friends) healthy and trouble free

Exactly my case!! I was with a guy who clearly had those narcissistic tendencies for a couple of months. Then he started pulling away and ghosting me, the situation got weird so I cut all the communication. And it’s been 5 months now since he’s constantly on my social media page watching all my stories 2 minutes right after I post it. I removed him first but he got back. Don’t want to block him because that would mean that I pay attention to him. But at least now I know what’s happening, thank you!!

That’s it .. she was just bored & gave in to the impulse and called you. As soon as you gave her your attention, merely answered the call, poof she got what she wanted/the temporary impulse was satisfied. You could only impact her by 💯 ignoring the hoovering. They actually get turned off & see us as weak when we give them the time of day because they know how what they treated us… They know healthy normal people wouldn’t tolerate that.

The reason they do this is because they want to make sure you aren’t doing well. It gives them a satisfaction that without them you are not doing well. They think “wow I’m that important and significant that this person can’t live without me.” That’s what gets them “high.” If you don’t care that upsets them they feel insignificant. It’s a disorder. Most of these people have been abandoned in their younger years somehow so it makes them feel insignificant. I left my narcissistic mother behind and went no contact 5 years ago. She tries to get her flying monkeys to check on me not because she is worried about me or if I’m ok. But she wants to see if I’m doing bad in life or suffering so she can sneak her way back in. The attention you give to them is q part of it absolutely but that feeling is short lived.

She filed for divorce over 2yrs ago and has lost primary custody of our son because she’s shady so court gave me primary custody. Now she’s just sitting on divorce and wants to hang out together. @@2020dms well she hung her self as far as what she said she was doing and what she was actually doing. 1st she abandoned her family and disappeared for over a month. I kept a calendar of all the days I had him because eventually she came back around and I allowed her to see him. Courts work off % of time with each parent over 75% usually goes in favor of who had child more. Then she took him to San Francisco. She stayed longer and sent him back on a flight to her parents house without telling me. A parent told me what happened and that info went to both attorneys and to court so basically her attorney told her she couldn’t do anything for her after what she did. Men don’t usually get custody but God knows everything and the truth always comes out. Hope this helps.
