Rachel is amazing, her story about punching Bernard Kerr and bringing him to tears after winning world champs was wild! Mad respect to the GOAT

Great interview, Rach is an absolute legend. I had the good fortune and privilege of knowing the Athertons from 2002 to 2009, my son raced downhill and spent a fair bit of time with Dan at their house in Wales. I remember first meeting them at the 2002 world cup at Ft William and my son who was 14 at the time asking Gee for his autograph, Rachel and Dan were ribbing Gee about signing his first autograph. Dan Brown was assistant manager at a shop that I was working in as a mechanic, my son called me from the Athertons one day and said that they were after a mechanic and that I should apply for it. I didn't feel that I was experienced enough at the time and told Dan Brown about the job, he applied and got the managers job instead! I did gain more experience and ended up working for GB as a mechanic, I was at the worlds in 2008 when Rachel and Gee won their first worlds titles, I think I've got probably the last photo of Gee taken just before he got to the start line so the last picture of him before becoming world champ! In my mind the Athertons had a massive impact on British Downhill racing, they changed the sport in this country and helped it become what it is today.

Rachel is a legend witout that extra win, I love how open and honest she is about everything, it's nice to hear about the bad parts as well as the good, too many people these days only showing/talking their best bits. I think you three would make a great regular team for a podcast. I always love Rob and Eliot's enthusiasm for the sport, they always have great questions that seem to get people to open up more. Eliot has such an infectious laugh, my day is better for having watched you guys, thanks!

Mad credits to all who make this series run. There are too many good things to even start listing them.

Just came across your show with Matt... and now Rachel. Rare to come across such natural , insightful and fun interviewers. It's one thing to ask a few forced, expected questions... and altogether another thing to bring out the best in an athlete, while revealing otherwise unknown diminsions of their life, personality, motivations and preparation that people haven't encountered elswhere. Subscribed.

Friendly but excellently undertaken interview that gives the viewers great insight into Rachel, the best racer ever...along with her being modest and grounded away from the competition world of Downhill. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely loved this. I've met Rachel a good few times at races as a competitor (I was too slow) and as a fan. I dont know her personally, but she comes across so bloody genuine, and honest. It's so refreshing!

At various points in the interview the happy go lucky facade slips she shows her warrior self. While she was wincing with pain and trying not to throw up at the start gate, her adversaries trembled at her greatness. Rob is right: she’s woven permanently into the history and fabric of cycling.

Rachel is a true LEGEND of the sport and an inspiration to soo many people around the world. Her focus, determination and dedication is unmatched in MTB and pioneering in the way modern female athletes train physically and mentally. ACC may have more wins but Rach is and always will be THE Queen of downhill. Brilliant interview Rob and Elliot. Can we have Elliot interviewed by Rob? Especially with societal pressures of being the highest profile BAME MTB rider and how diversity and inclusion could progress in our beloved sport. And then Elliot interviewing Rob! You’re gonna need a bigger memory card in the cameras for that one! Keep up the fantastic work! 🤘❤️🌈🕊️🌍

Can’t help feel our greatest rider ever, could just give herself a break, a chill session, some distance in front of second in her own mind, that she’s better than she thinks..? But if she did that, she wouldn’t be the legendary rider she is. What a conundrum. What drive. What a family…. 😮 Gee is weapons grade, no doubt about it

No mtb history books? If only there were two people who knew lots of stats, had in-depth knowledge of the sport, and interview access to racing legends, then they could write one... 🚴♂
