I was brought here by Uncle Jed's version of 'Brother' which I really loved! In fact, I loved their performance so much that I figured I might not like Matt's version even though it's HIS song. I have watched so many videos where people cover other artists' songs and I've often heard people say that the cover was better than the original. I've wondered how someone could honestly say that. How can a copy of the Mona Lisa be better than da Vinci's original? But, in music, "original" is a relative term. If the first time that I heard this wonderful song, "Brother", was because of Uncle Jed (as was the case), then, in my heart, they are the original and Matt is the cover artist, even though my mind knows this isn't true. I will say this. After watching Matt's performance, I still prefer Uncle Jed's version BUT I absolutely loved Matt's version AND he has a new fan. I guess that's the highest compliment I can pay him. No flames please, this was a honest attempt to explain my conflicted mind.

I tell a tale. When Matt Corby was on Idol I had teenage daughters who loved him. They are no longer teenagers. I hadn't heard of Matt Corby again until tonight when a good friend invited me over for a beer (we are both old muso's). His teenage daughter grabbed the guitar and sang and played brother. I asked 'what is this awesome tune, and to which bard do I thank for the pleasure?" When she said Matt Corby I near fell off my chair (not from the beer!!) He has really come of age, this is brilliant.
