Sadly, when I first started I made a terrible decision to speed up the narration on my videos because I worried so much about people not watching the whole thing. I mistakenly thought getting the information out faster would keep people’s attention better. Go to settings at the upper right hand of the video and play it at .75 speed. It sounds normal then. Sorry!

Live in Newport Beach, CA but grew up in Ozark. Currently in bed, watching a movie or a documentary like i do every night. I am watching this tonight, and it beats both of those categories. This made my night. I’ve watched a lot of KZbin - have never commented. Had to get on here to comment and say thank you.

Wow, thanks for that great compliment! And my skills have improved quite a bit since this, at least in the technical aspects of making videos.

I grew up in Northeast Oklahoma, but I would often visit SW Missouri. I was aware of the Baldknobbers, but never realized how they came about. Very interesting.

I have such fond memories of the Ozarks as we visited Silver Dollar City, in the early 1980s twice a year, and the Bald Knobbers were actually a huge part of that experience. There was a particularly amazing scent that only Silver Dollar City had back then. It was of salt water taffy, blacksmiths and the deep woods. I recently returned in the early 2000s and it certainly felt amusmitized to me by then. 20 years earlier it was much smaller and only a few rides existed and that brings us to Fire in the Hole. Fire in the hole was a small underground roller coaster (that had only a few small dips) that was dedicated to the Bald Knobbers. In fact the walk up to the ride gave some history (very little really) about them but most importantly murals of Bald Knobbers (exactly like the one on your youtube page) that struck me quite hard as a 12 year old but certainly captured my fascination. So, I really am excited to learn the history of these hooded men, as per Fire in the Hole they were just hooded men that walked the streets of the Ozark and Midwest with torches burning buildings. (that's the only story the graphics really told on the walk up to the Fire in the Hole ride. So..., let's get episode 1 started.... YEEHAW!!

I will be very sad if the Bald Knobbers are not a part of the new ride. It’s one of the only reasons many people know of them though most don’t seem to realize they were actually real. You would not recognize Silver Dollar City today. I also remember it before it really had rides (though barely). It really did used to be like going back in time.

hi there madame, just finish the ripper series great research, finished this one again great content, now for the critique: great delivery and research, the only thing i can say is slow down a little bit, will give you time to read your cues and verbally process them . see the only reason i even bring this up, is i lived in the very deep south for 44 years, and i grew accustom to a slower speech pattern , thank you for all your hard work to bring quality content for those of us who prefer to be edified with real research and not click bait... all the very best,r

I think I sped up the speed in this one, and many of the early videos. At first I was upset people were turning it off so quickly (creators can see that) so I felt I needed to get information in faster. I no longer do that. I also do everything from memory so I’m not reading anything or getting cues. But I usually have sources with me to review right before so my information is accurate. Again, thanks for the feedback!

@@MMorbid the graves have very readable stones and they are way back in the woods off of Chadwick Rd. I think according to map it maybe called Mathews cemetery? My husband took me back there in his 4 wheel drive jeep.

@@sandyhawks1226 John Mathew’s was buried on his farm in a family plot, so that makes a lot of sense. If a four wheel drive is required though, I’m not sure my vehicle could make it. Thanks for the information though. If I can make it I cover Mathew’s in episode 3.

@@MMorbid I was told the 3 were hung in Ozark, MO. Then taken to Chadwick. There is just the 3 graves and was very well taken care of at one time. I can tell by the plants. Yucka's don't grow wild in Missouri and there are some there, along with ferns, and some other beautiful plants.

@@sandyhawks1226 Dave and William Walker are buried in Sparta. I have already been to their graves. It will be interesting to see who the other two are. My guess is other members of his family. According to Faces Like Devils he was buried on his farm in a family plot. I’m going to try to find them if it ever stops raining!

Thank you so much! Let me know when your channel is active. I have been experimenting with adding music. I don’t play an instrument but I can sing acapella and since I have a history channel I can use songs in the public domain. Perhaps you might have tips on recording music as thus far I’ve only done voice over. Thank you for subscribing and I would love to check out your channel

I just watched it again, as I made it a long time ago. Aside from speeding up the narration, which I absolutely shouldn’t have done, I am happy to see I actually presented this quite well, especially considering how early it was created in my KZbin career. The speed issue can be fixed by watching it on .75 speed. If that wasn’t what you disliked then I can’t help you. I am happy with what I saw. If you don’t specify what you dislike in your comments it does the creator absolutely no good and is nothing more than an insult.
