Shaving my head was the best decision of my life. I shaved it one day before my 28th birthday. Don't let the thoughts of "my head isn't a good shape" or "it won't suit my face" deter you. These are common thoughts-- and they are excuses. You have two decisions to make: 1. Shave your head AND 2. Tell yourself that you are going to OWN IT no matter what. And by deciding that you will OWN IT, you will literally never worry about your hair again...it's seriously a great trade off! I feel so bad seeing people chasing hair solutions their entire lives. Shaving is the most liberating feeling you'll ever have. You can do it!! I believe in you!!

I buzzed off a pretty full head of hair on August 23, 2009. I was sixty years old. I had used Rogaine for a year or so a few years before that, I think when I was in my mid to late thirties, because my mother had nagged me about my thinning hair and then gave me a beginner kit of Rogaine. I don’t remember how long I used it, but it was expensive, I didn’t think it was making a difference, and I really didn’t care that I was losing it. My wife agreed with me. I didn't ask Mom and she didn't mention it very often after I told her it didn't worry me. I had been getting tattooed for several years and basically had a full body tattoo from above my shirt collar to my fingertips and toes. I had an appointment to get the back of my head tattooed later that week and had to decide for sure what I thought about being totally “bald and beautiful” while I still had a few days to back out of that commitment! So I took the clippers in hand and very quickly cut a swath from above my eyes over the top of my head to my shoulders. I turned my head side to side and started laughing. When I finally regained my composure, I rapidly finished the job, mowing down my eyebrows to complete the look. I have been proudly bald since that day, bearded most of the time since August 23, 1997, and virtually 100% tattooed since 2010. I have shaved my scalp and face since then only to get more tattoo done. I like the way my face tattoo can be seen under my beard along my jaw and below my mouth. Absent a medical emergency, I plan never to shave my beard again but never to go more than a few days without shaving my scalp. I am happy to be a beardguy since 1997, a tattooguy since 1998, and a baldguy since 2009!

I turned 40 this year and have been slowly losing my hair AND going grey since I was in my mid 20's. I had pretty thick hair and over the years I noticed the front starting to thin out. I knew eventually it was going to happen so I just made the best of it and experimented with it by dying it pretty much every color under the sun. To make a long story short, once I hit 40, it had gotten so thin at the front and receded so far back, I debated just shaving it all off and going bald. I can honestly say I actually like it. I don't have to ever worry about having a bad hair day. I can just throw a hat or beanie on and go about my day.

Been wet shaving mine everyday for about 5 years now (currently 34). It looks MUCH better than the MACDONALDS M style of receding hairline I had prior to wet shaving. It's just standard procedure now. ALSO, its much cheaper and less hassle than going to the barber every week trying to cut the hair in a way that 'disguises' the receding hairline.
@JD-oe5uc2 жыл бұрын
For me it has never been a big issue. Of course, when you are in your late twenties and notice you hairline is changing, the first thing you think is "damn! why me?!" But after a few years I first used a clipper because I was basically fed up with the fact my hair never did what I wanted it to do. I always hated the hairdresser and spend too much time to get my stubborn hair the way I wanted it to be. Such a relief!! Since I do also sports like 6 days a week it is very practical! But most important fow me was that I always had a very itchy scalp. Tried everything. After shavind my head wet witch a rezor blade, the itchiness disappeared as snow for the sun! It only comes back when I don't shave for like 2-3 days (normally I shave every other day). I have to say I am lucky with the shape of my skull and I can get away with it with all my tattoo's and short beard. Best decission ever and can spend the money I save for not going to the hairdresser on new ink ;)

Too many people view being bald as a means to an end. But it's a choice of style, and not everyone has the balls to pull off an outwardly aggressive and masculine style like that. Someone with a nice cut will get some attention, and some compliments, but the bald guy ALWAYS sticks out. What you do with that attention is entirely shaped by you and how you carry yourself.
@jeremiemazza12284 жыл бұрын
there's nothing masculine about having no hair line, if youre going to shave your head you might as well get smp.

A guy who faces his insecurities head on, instead of trying to hide it is masculine regardless of your opinion.

Just shaved yesterday. I'm 25 been thinning since 23. Hated bending over. Sometimes I'd forget about it and so it wouldn't bother me. I was facetiming my dad and we both showed the top of are heads. He's 48 and I had more hair loss than him. We screen shot the comparison. At first he thought my head was his and he was shocked. Not gonna lie kinda hurt. I then preceded to the bathroom used a 3/8 trim. It was short so i thought maybe that'd be enough. Took a picture of the top and back. The hair loss was even more evident. I wonder if it was so noticeable from the back before I shaved... I then went down the lowest guard I had which was 1/16. Pretty much skin. Was still noticeable so I used a razor. My confidence has increased. I look younger than I did before. I'm now obligated to work out lol. Anyone who is balding and are self conscious about it. Just do it. It's liberating and if you don't like the look of being bald (well you were losing it anyway don't think it'll grow back) just start working out. Bald and muscles will look good on anyone. If anyone says anything about it just ignore them. Yes harder than it sounds but who are they to you? A stranger. If it is indeed someone like a friend then they weren't really a friend. This might be cringy to say and I could regret it later but the days of kindoms and empires are long past gone. Be your own king. Do you think a king will let the thoughts of others dictate how he lives?

Best way to go. More people seem to take the piss if you just have a bald patch like me than if you have a completely smooth head.

I've been thinking of do it for awhile now. I'm very light skin and im afraid im gonna look weird and my head is gonna look so light. I want to over come my fear. My wife did say that she supports what ever i decide. But in reality, I'm scared to be embarrassed which I shouldn't be. Hope that makes sense. Watching this video helps me know that im not alone. I hope to get the courage that you all have. I will update if i do it. My props to you all. Stay healthy.

Don't be afraid of the buzz-cut. The shaven-headed look has become socially acceptable. It's not the 1970s anymore when we all had to have luxuriant barnets to be cool! I got rid of what remained of my hair years ago when I looked in the mirror and saw that what had once been a semi-respectable backcomb had gradually morphed into a Bobby Charlton sweep-over. The decision took a little courage but I've never looked back.

Thanks for this, this helped me a lot since I have been struggling with my thinning hair and V shaped hair line, problem. it is so stressing and so much time wasting looking for solutions, all of which temporary with poor results, it is expensive as well. Some therapies like minoxidil had terrible consequences for my including ED. The thing about minoxidil giving you a hard time in your bed performance is the fact that drugs which mess around with vasodilation can cause all sorts of side effects related to circulation and blood pressure. Erections, genital sensitivity, and other aspects of sexual functioning and responsiveness fall under that category, according to an Urologist I visited. A total pain in the ass totally not worth the side effects, stress, anxiety and so and so on. Going for the barber shop right way. Maybe I will not be getting a shaved head just yet but I will be having a really short buzz cut hair style, you know for preparing myself little by little until it is ok for me to shave it all off. Thanks to all you guys for sharing your experiences, It helps to know you are not alone in this.

My brows are thick, so im afraid to go full bald, i keep it on the number 2 crop
@obabas804 жыл бұрын
Then you’re lucky! Mine too. Thick eye brows are a PLUS when shaving your head dude! They look awesome and show more and make us look less “sick” looking than dudes with no eyebrows!

Did chap around 3:05 have scalp micropigmentation done?
@Baldcafe4 жыл бұрын
No, still got a decent front hairline right. I believe for him his problem area was mainly the crown as he mentions hair fibers
@stefanbatterbee16994 жыл бұрын
That's me. No I haven't had scalp micropigmentation but my hairline is still alright, this was filmed after about a day of buzzing to zero. But yeah as Harry mentioned my crown is mega thin so I have to keep it at a zero.
