Bald Mountain Jeep Trail / Big Levels, Virginia

My son and I ran that last April North to South on our way to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I love the dual personality of the trail- half rock crawling, half big bog holes. Looking forward to going back.

This is one of my favorite goto trails and I love the duel personality as well. Great camping and wheeling in one! Did you get caught by that one super soft mud hole at the end that I seem to forget every time I run it?

@ nah. But the holes were really low as it was pretty dry and I always hit em with a bit a speed at the entry and maintain through, just in case. I grew up in South Jersey and wheeled Wharton as a kid- they have vehicle swallowing ones at that place so it was engrained in me early on to never let my guard down with em. Lol.

@ That's some good advice! Every time I have gotten stuck in the mud and had to winch it was because I was going too slow. Last min throttle ended up digging in axle deep.

Bought my2024 Colorado zr2 last june 29 th. Took it up up to bumpus cove,tn 13 miles up onto forestry road. That mountain laurel pinstriped my truck up good. That trail was almost as narrow as this Kenedy ridge trail you was driving on.

Bought the awning because it looked cool, but it turns out that there were a few other features that I liked. Durable and it actually goes back in the case easier than the 6.5 ft awning packed in the bag. I had been stuck on those two rocks on a previous trip. 🤣

I’ll be in the area at the end of the month with my Jeep and overland trailer. Not sure if I want the pinstripes like that

Stay off those side trails for sure. God that was brutal. Like fingernails on a chalkboard the whole way. Main trail was not too bad, but it tends to get more narrow later in the year as things grow.
