My conspiracy theory is that roseeater expected tailwind to kill riptide, which is why they call him a moron and riptide seems confused, and then the displeased face when tailwind spares riptide. rose was aiming to get the kill tally to three in one clean swoop 👀?

It’s been a month since this has been released and I just noticed two details between 1:38 - 1:42 first the sheer casualness of the dodge Tailwind did is amazing. Riptidesmith’s move was beautifully animated that showed how frantic he is and Tailwind literally just shrugged it off. Also lore specific thing maybe? But when Riptidesmith then does manage to inflict damage through a bite to Tailwind’s foreleg… Tailwind doesn’t bleed there. He starts bleeding from his mouth instead. I always wondered how the blood got there until now. Maybe the mark doesn’t make Tailwind invincible, it just makes it seem like he is since all outward damage instead attacks him internally? Idk but I love small details like that!

ah. you know, i was just beginning to think the symbol looked like it has roman numerals. i guess the symbol changing at 1:07 confirms that icepeak dies, and now it's at 2. uh oh i wonder if maroonstrike realized the same thing after talking to the other cat that showed up at the end of backbone that also had a symbol (their name is on the toyhouse but i forgor lol). cuz his was still at 1 when he died goddamn the plot thickens and our boy has ~trauma~ with that out of the way, my god am i having fun keeping up with the story and watching these animations. a lot of people have said it already, and i agree: this is peak content. i'm looking forward to seeing more in the future!!

I saw this in another comment, they pointed out how IcePeak silhouette showed up before the symbol on TailWind paw. Now I'm just thinking, does one get the symbol after they've done something wrong, like killing a cat like Tailwind did or attacking their father like Maroonstrike did? Tailwind grandfather had said our work finally bore fruit so I'm assuming he was hoping tailwind would do something bad so he could get the symbol. But I could be wrong and literally grasping at straws.

I can't even express how indescribably AMAZING THIS ANIMATION IS. Even just the very soft, simple way we see his paw slowly draw back in the very beginning. The lines, the way the claws desheath, the way he pulls his leg back, his expressions. THAT BEGINNING ALONE was phenomenal. Like pure sweet bliss for the eyes. And then Riptidesmith walks in and the whole thing explodes into more amazingness. Outstanding action, great written dialogue, emotional explosions, and such a nail biting ending. Idk. I wish I can say something complimentary enough to express how GOOD this looks, and it only took months?! Thats a LOT of work and time and dedication- yet I wouldn't be surprised if this type of project took years. Outstanding talent and hard work!

rewatching this and I cannot stop looking at this one detail when the mark forms on Tailwind’s paw, it looks like a characters head for a moment when forming. Idk if that’s just me seeing things (which is always possible haha) but I thought I’d point this out because it’s interesting to me :) 1:07 if you pause right there I think you’ll see what I mean 👍 Again just pointing this detail out because its very interesting to me
