Huron Blackheart is in my top 3 favorite characters of 40k. The story happens to mirror a lot of history when western culture ie Brittain, France and Spain...colonized the Americas. Finally where the bureaucracy stood in the way logical/lucrative strategy and planning at the cost of the ability to do their job..they said F U....the taxation without representation hits home with yanks and britts....which oddly today the wheel has nearly made another full revolution bringing us back to the same BS once again...

I love the way GW handled Huron as a villain... He's a great and sharp minded leader, he really knows how to lead(like running governments as well as armies)... he's not just an individual physical threat... Huron does not play, though... The Nightlords Omnibus is my favorite Huron situation... that creature that lives on his shoulder is pretty ill too...

Big fan of Huron Blackheart and Red Corsairs these guys deserve a trilogy of their own. I personally want Huron Blackheart to be the first traitor to cross the Rubicon Primaris and challenge Abaddon for the title Warmaster

The relationship between those two are depicted in "Pandorax". Abaddon is well aware, the Huron is hungry for his throne, but Huron knows all too well, that his forces would never survive in an open conflict with the Black Legion. Huron is happy to wait and work for Abaddon in return for payment. Building his strength.

For the most part, the Tyrant himself remained a figurehead, rarely leading the standard raids and boarding actions that formed the backbone of his Red Corsair’s activities. He remained in solitary contemplation of his dark fate. Apothecaries and tech-priests attended him as required, ensuring his augmetics were well maintained and doing whatever they could to relieve the constant pain. But every so often, something would pique his interest. At these times, he would step from his throne room as though he had never been away and he would once again indulge his voracious appetite for power. When he chose to take command, he did so with the same charisma and power that he had demonstrated in his heyday. He was an unstoppable, powerful force with an ability to plan for several possible contingencies and adapt his ideas at the very last minute. They were aboard the Might of Huron, flagship of the Red Corsairs fleet. Three decks below bridge level, the commanders met in an open area vaulted with dripping girders, condensation from life support and coolant tubes running down the walls to form murky pools of liquid. With all powered functions on ship reduced to the bare minimum as the fleet approached its destination, the light in the chamber came from guttering flames - slaves had dragged in great piles of refuse, placed them in wide bowls, doused them with oil and set them alight. The smoke was foul, the flames spitting and hissing. The Red Corsairs did not rest on the high ceremony beloved of the hated Imperium and the bloodless loyalists who retained faith in their damnable Corpse-Emperor. Instead there was simply service and reward: they gave unquestioning service to their master, and in return he rewarded them with a share of the spoils, as he saw fit. Such a gathering of the Red Corsairs senior officers should, by that theory, have been devoid of formality, and indeed for the most part the arrangements were simple: the officers attended, and slaves brought them fine foods and drinks, plundered from a hundred worlds and countless ships. In practice, although they were traitors to the cause they remained Space Marines, and the physical pleasures of eating and drinking were of limited interest to them. Equally, while they professed an abandonment of their former conventions and an embracing of anarchy, the Red Corsairs were still born soldiers, and any gathering was riven by complex strata of rank and achievement...'

Yes, the inquisition erased a lot of stuff about the civil war with the Maelstrom Warders, because by some accounts they had hand in setting the blaze that led to this whole wild fire. There were certain points were things could have been rectified, but the Inquisitors in charge of this mess may have pulled on more than a few strings to make certain the worst results happened. Why? Pride.

I enjoyed Hurons appearance in the Night Lords novels. A broken monster by appearance, in constant agony. Yet still a strategic genius commanding the fear and respect of insane super soldiers.

As usual I love the delivery, but I think the presentation of the sequence of events and the omiting of certain details from Huron's time as a loyalist was too...biased and mired in post-Badab influence. Not long after ascending to Chapter Master, Huron had to deal with a Chaos infested space hulk spat out from the Malestrum in the direction of the Malestrum Adjascent Zone, which with its very presence caused entire planets to go mad, and it even effected Astartes. Right before this hulk hit a very populated world, the Lamenters, who were also part of the Warders Of The Malestrum at the time, discovered that they were resistant to its corrupting influence, so Huron allowed them to rally their full fleet, and while suffering heavy casualties on their ships because of the prolonged exposure to the hulk, they destroyed its cursed wreck, saving the Zone. However, some Inquisitors were nearby at the time and began levying accusations of heresy against the Lamenters, who had saved countless lives and resources in service to the Emperor and the Imperium, because of their resistance to the influence of the Warp. Same way the Inquisition did with captain Titus from the Space Marine game. Huron, being an actually decent human being, stood up for the Lamenters and defended them against the Inquisition's predations. Up until then the Astral Claws were lauded as one of the greatest and most venerated heroes of the Imperium... But the moment they with legitimate reason told the Inquisition to shove it and leave the depressed boys alone, things began going down hill for them. It was after this incident that through Huron's leadership the Adjascent Zone prospered and boomed in abundance, even expanding into the Malestrum zone itself and taming it. Huron proved himself an excellent governor, a capable leader and a profitable oveseer, extracting vast quantities of wealth for the Imperium's benefit. And to top it all off, unlike the previous nobility, most of the planets in the zone loved the man. It was then that he developed his petition for further reinforcements, in order to tame the Malestrum as a whole. Mathematical diagrams, proof of concept, evidence of success and leadership, logistical planning, investments of force, he had everything documented and prepared for presentation. Any sane person of power seeing this would immediately sign off on it, due to the net benefit it would provide... Yet for some mystical reason the High Lords immediately rejected it. And this petitioning was revised and resubmitted many times over the course of a century, yet every time the High Lords immediately dismissed it. And it was due to this obstinancy, which I will flat out say I believe was orchestrated by the Inquisition, along with all the major future fallout of the Badab War, such as the sabotaged peace negotiations between the Red Scorpions and the Astral Claws, that pushed Huron into the dark. Had the Inquisition not been such absolute egotistical wankers, and Huron was supported appropriately, I am wholly convinced that the Imperium would have greatly prospered. I would even dare to say they would do so successfully that the return of Girlyman would not have been required, for the Imperium to go more on the offensive. Let alone the creation of the asspull that were the primaris, and even more so the cavernous asshole that spawned them - Cawl.

There has been a rival to the Warmaster of Chaos for the past ten thousand years, and yet somehow only one has risen so high as to challenge that position of power. Of all the followers of the Dark Gods none have made a name for themselves as quickly as the Tyrant of Badab has, and none who is better posed in taking the mantle of Warmaster from Abbadon. Huron has committed heresy, treason, genocide and forsaken the Light of the God Emperor of Mankind in his ambition to become an equal to the Heroes of old, to crave an empire worthy as an equal to the realm of Ultramar, and yet his ambition plunged the Badab section into a warpath against the Imperium and led it into the grasp of the Dark Gods. Huron is a threat rival by the Black Legion and one that should never be underestimated by anyone within the Imperium.

Thank you so much. Huron Blackheart is one of my favorite characters in 40k and I believe he doesn’t get enough love. If you have time, I recommend reading Tyrant of the Hollow Worlds. It highlights how awesome he is in combat and how much of a tyrant he really is! Just a side note, it would be awesome if you did more shorts of games that you have like that Blood Angels vs Necrons! I'm just finishing now a book "Treacheries of the Space Marines". One of it's stories is called "Bitter End" telling about Red Corsairs, Huron and the story what he done to improve his hamadya. Really good, like whole book which is one of my favourites in WH40k universe

Abaddon has the single most misunderstood and bad reputation of any 40k character, and I definitely try to rectify that every chance I get. So few have read the primary sources or even understand the Long War, so it infuriates me, when people spread the False "Failbaddon" narrative.

This would seem to be more the Inquisitions history of events than a more balanced accounting as to what actually occurred and drove the Tyrant to embrace Chaos in the end. Heresy I know but there is much more to the War for Badab than the official histories record. To be fair whole War (or rather Wars) for Badab, is one of greatest example how inetp is Imperium as a whole surviving only because how big it is. Theres no need for enemys when someone have allies like High Lords of Terra or Inquisition

Yep. I think R G would have given him the extra chapter minimum. Chapter(s) more likely. He was not loyal enough to roll over and die. But sometimes that is called for in the imperium. So he want perfect. But he was definitely forced to it imho. :(

This was a unexpected but very welcomed surprise! Huron Blackheart is such a interesting character from everything I’ve been able to gather from the war for badab from other lore channels like arch and a border prince to reading the lexicaum he had pretty noble goals at first and his chapter had so many honors in their name it was sad to see how much they have fallen and how much they’ve given themselves to the dark forces of chaos. Amazing video as always Lord Baldermort I thoroughly enjoyed this one and I can’t help but wonder. Does this mean that the War for Badab video might be somewhere around the corner? I would love to see your take on it with your amazing story telling skills it’s going to be amazing! Thanks again for the amazing content can’t wait for the next video!

recently started my second army and chose Red Corsairs (Blood Angels being my first (apparently I like red and good lore as I also like the Farsight Enclave)). I really do wish he had an updated model and think they need to give him back terminator armour. I know some people have kit-bashed Abaddon but I don't like the look of his claw; seeing as he doesn't use terminator armour yet, I may magnetise his back pack and create a kit-bashed version using a Chaos Chosen as a basis and use the claw arm from my as yet unbuilt Catephractii terminator.
