Coming back to this 3 years later really makes me realise how relatable this song is “nobody wants detention we only want attention” everyone being desperate for attention from the teachers for validation “so just behave” if you don’t do as the teachers say you get in trouble “finding notebooks so we matter” feeling like good grades will give us validation and we’re a failure if we flunk it “follow every rule” being forced to follow every rule and act exactly like each-other if you don’t you’re seen as a problem or bad kid “this is how we live our lives finding the answers on every page” going to school almost every day and constantly being drained of energy “count until i don’t know what counts” throwing yourself into work because you don’t want to be seen as a failure “I’m pushed around with all the pressure” having to follow every rule, high expectations from teachers and parents, the fear of messing up “and I don’t want to stay” most kids don’t enjoy school to the point they’re happy if they get hurt and can stay off due to the pure pressure and how exhausting school is… damn 😧 The school system is messed up! :D

It’s basically a chasing game, where the player runs through the halls. The player is required to collect all of those notebooks to escape the school while Baldi gets continually faster to stop the player. It’s not really that violent since the game over screen is just him staring you down with a bit of a loud noise, though, it’s probably a bit too scary for a 5 year old to play on her own! Though, I agree, I wasn’t expecting the song to be so good!

I’m probably looking way too deep and self projecting but-. This makes me think of how kids with learning disorders and disabilities often aren’t properly helped. Like getting diagnosed late so they didn’t getting help in school, their accommodations getting ignored, teachers shaming them for not learning as fast as the other kids or learning differently, before finally burning out and feeling like no one can help. I really like the theory, or more like, the interpretation, that the character we play as has a disorder that makes learning difficult (like dyslexia or ADHD). This is why the math problems get all jumbled up and is impossible to solve. It makes a lot of sense considering many children with these disorders typically develop anxiety. And this multiplies by ten fold when the teacher is not educated on this matter, or simply not an understanding person.
