Great, easy to follow vid. To add one more small thing to the mix, i find that using the dip action on a candle for extra fire damage on my bow esepcially to be huge. You can take it out of your inventory, place it, light it, dip your weapon, then pick it back up all for 1 bonus action (the dip). It lasts for 3 turns and a lot of the time you would waste that bonus action anyways.

If you want to keep Astarion's "Happy" buff up all the time for Act 1, keep the sleeping bugbear in the Blighted Village alive. When you venture out from a long rest, teleport to the village and have Astarion do his thing while sneaking. I don’t remember seeing it in this video, but a very underrated shortcut to know is for grouping and ungrouping the party, default hotkey is “g”. Especially useful if you’re doing a lot of sneaking around, or if you want to force your party to take (pretty much required) damage like jumping down from somewhere and taking fall damage if there’s no “safe” place to jump, or making them run through hazards if they can’t jump far enough. It can help a lot with positioning too; do it before a fight, position everyone how you want so they’re not grouped, have the big damage martial classes on the front line closer to the enemy etc. instead of your party being clustered together at the start of every fight which makes you more susceptible to AoE effects/attacks
@ProxyGateTactician Жыл бұрын

I also just started making BG3 content, and I must bow to you. These are actually unknown extremely useful tips, even if I have 200 hours. I don't know how you have time to record all these specific clips, I am super impressed

I think I spent around 70 hours on a 10 minute video so I don't recommend it at all lol I didn't plan to have this many specific clips but after writing it I just felt like ok I need this and this and this and this. Thanks though and good luck on your content too. I'll check it out!

@@ProxyGateTactician Holy shit, I suspected it was a crazy amount of hours, but damn. I just got a new computer for this game, but I have a full time job and I'm spending most of my vacation away from it. Don't burn yourself out!

lol I kinda felt like that too, but was like there are 9 main topics so I'll label it that way. I originally had more sections, but felt like enough people had covered them already.

I've been trolling KZbin for years now and your channel is 1 of 9 that I've actually subscribed to. How do you do so well and only have 2 videos on your channel? Your editing is excellent. You include timestamps. You don't add unnecessary fluff. The content and information you are presenting is unique and helpful to ALL players. Nothing feels like "click bait". If this is a secondary or "do-over" channel then clearly you paid attention the first time around and are doing it right. If this is genuinely your first attempt then you REALLY paid attention and came out swinging. I look forward to referencing your budding library as I fight my way through what looks to be Larian's masterpiece for a long time to come.

Thanks so much for the long comment weezle! I actually did do a channel about 4 years ago, but only for 4 months. I then had some IRL stuff come up and had to quit... That time I had a similiar experience to how this channel is going. So I had wanted a fresh start and was curious to see if it was luck or if it was something I can do if I put my mind to it.

Extremely well made video, plugged further information as well, music was phenomenal and added so much to enjoying learning the content. Im overwhelmed by a lot in this game but this made it at least referenceable i can always come back and rewatch to remember how to do any of these tactics. Gained a permanent sub!

I wish someone had told me: That health potions, health spells and just any scrolls are PLENTIFUL, from beginning to end. Even scrolls of spells you already have will avoid using up valuable spell slots esp in the first act. When I started I was super careful and played combat cautiously as I was afraid to get hit. I didn’t realize there is no penalty to short rests, revivifty scrolls are everywhere, withers can bring people back and it’s not nearly as fun to play like that. Now, once I realized that scrolls, potions s and health aren’t a precious commodity, I just cast AOE spells, even if I might hit. I cast fireball at oil and fire wine barrels left and right and maybe take a few hits but kill a ton of kobolds. It’s way more fun, way more hilarious, and this game doesnt need to be all serious min/max business. EVERY class, even pure non multiclassed, every race is viable, and theme/roleplqy builds are WAY more fun than DPS builds. It’s kind of fun to give yourself only theme spells and have to work around it versus just all the most damage dealing ones. It forces you to think and act creatively and not lean on just one party memeber or setup for damage. Use the environment. There’s so much cool stuff to do. Don’t let combat stress you out. There’s nothing wrong with going explorer mode for your first or every playthrough. If you don’t learn to have fun with combat even if you’re not good at it then the whole game will be a slog. You might die, you might lose some hp, you might have a TPK and have to start over and oh well. Nothing is precious. Loot and weapons are everywhere, scrolls and health everywhere. And don’t be overlook alchemy. Those are my tips from a newbie who didkt and still doesn’t know much but still has tons of successful fun playthroughs on every difficulty. Don’t spend hours on KZbin looking for builds. Go with what you like and have fun.

I think dip is very useful and is underused. Also, placing a candle or torch on the ground by your party prior to a fight and then using that to dip weapons into is a good tactic.
@humanmerelybeing1966 Жыл бұрын
This is an amazing example of how to do a tips & tricks video. I'd love to see you do a video entirely about the ways in which combat rewards creativity over DPS. Since BG3 is getting way more mainstream attention than most CRPGS, I think a lot of new players won't even consider the possibilities of combining various spells or taking advantage of environments. You touch upon many of those things in this video, but dedicated coverage on the subject (with examples) from someone with your knowledge and excellent communication skills would be really interesting. Perhaps something like "top 10 ways utility spells break the game" video would gain traction with the algo?

Been thinking about that sort of thing for sure. The twin spell sorc casting haste is easily my number 1. Budding two party members with extra actions for 10 turns is crazy strong. I am playing a sorc with a fighter and paladin it’s so damn strong

You know what? A *LOT* of channels focusing on BG3 are popping up now, and a ton of creators are shifting to almost strictly BG3 content. Some are good, some are generic, some are both. This one is definitely in the good category. No _"generic"_ at all. I like it. To many people are trying to imitate Fextralife instead of just being themselves. Keep it up, love the content and I enjoy the delivery. Lol, if I hear one more creator trying to sound like _"SpellandShield"_ while instead sounding like a cross between a talk radio host and a Dungeon Master I'm going to...err...idk. Check and see if this channel has anything new! That'll learn 'em. On a serious note, you're absolutely right. Use the environment, and oh my gosh, flying is great, and *Feath Fall* can be your best friend when you kill any enemy and they drop down what looks like an impassable hole. You can, more often than not, Feather fall down and loot the body, with a few of those occasions giving you access to treasure rooms you had no idea were there. Maybe a hidden rope ladder that does not show up when you "tab" (or whatever you have for your highlight all button), or the fire arrow/explosion you used to destroy the bridge they were standing on also burnt said rope ladder so it is no longer there to be highlighted...sneaky devs these cats are. They've taken the Divintity _hidden_ object thing to new levels. I remember seeing something highlighted on top of a tower that was either on fire or electrified for some reason. I finally got up there and believe I found boots of speed. Oh my goodness what an insane item those things are. Anything that give haste, combined with flight...oh my gosh. You are a battlefield *GOD.* Tempus has nothing on a dual wielding swashbuckling Rogue/Storm Sorcerer with haste and the ability to fly. Have someone create Water on a group of bad guys. Swoop in to Backstab...yikes. Carry/Fly Drop. Or just fly then zap the puddle. So much fun.

Not sure if it helps or hurts that I don't watch any other Baldurs Gate content (Except Wolfheart). It's just from playing it myself + similarity to Divinity 2. The hidden loot thing is always so much fun. I felt like I played through DoS2 full game 20+ times and STILL was finding things I missed. If BG3 is as big as they say it is then I bet we will never run out of stuff. The feather falling down thing is something I haven't looked into much at all, i'll keep my eyes open for it. Thanks for the comment
