Baldur's Gate 3 BEST LEGENDARY ARMOR Tier List

In this video I will be ranking the BEST LEGENDARY ARMOR in Baldur's Gate 3 on a Tier List. I also included some very rare armor in here as well that I think is just as good or better than some of the options here. Pretty much all these items have their uses, but there's a couple that aren't as strong as others. So I just want to talk about them on this tier list and just give my overall thoughts on some of these armors.

The gloves of soul catching feel absolutely bonkers. I had never played a monk in any capacity, not even in dnd, up until this recent playthrough with my partner and holy hell. The sensation of dealing out 100+ damage with my monk/rogue casually with these things is both amazing and hilarious.

Monk Rogue is such a fun multiclass! Yeah they take the monk to the next level. If you ascend Astarion he also gets a 1d10 to his unarmed attacks (x2) and it gets crazyyy

Helldusk armour is so good it's worth the glitches of Silencing Raphael and looting his body.

It is your best chance at keeping Gale alive in the early game 😂 I’ve never done that glitch but I might next playthrough

​@@JasonDunna Go to the grove talk or kill nettie do NOT go to alfira or harpies since raphael may meet you there. Go to the plateau where the guidance amulet and spider bag are. Before you go up the ladder ungroup your party and leave them a good ways away from the ladder. Climb UP AND RAPHAEL WILL AMBUSH YOU. Change character using bottom left icon and have that character range attack rapahel and he will leave. Before you enter the mountain pass make sure to have any party member have the silence bubble. Go to the mountain pass. This will force a long rest. Rapahael be in camp. Cast the silence bubble on him. Attack him with non leathal damage and quickly loot him before he gets back up. Note: You may have to have another party member talk to scratch. If he walks into the bubble he will turn the entire camp hostile against you.

important note: the Mask of Shapeshifting does not lose it's effect when you unequip it. So it's basically a effect that doesn't cost any equipment slot.

It's also great for speaking to dead and give your party face a +d4 to all ability checks with the shapeshift ring

Another huge advantage to Mask of the Shapeshifter beyond getting racial advantages (half orc’s Relentless Endurance, halfling’s Luck, etc.) is pairing it with the Shapeshifter’s Boon Ring. This gives +d1-4 on ALL checks. I don’t know how many times I’ve aced a significant skills check as a result: Mirror of Loss, Yurgir, the Thorms, the Nightsong. It’s invaluable in Honour Mode where there’s no safety net with your rolls. If I know a significant roll with story implications is coming up, I’ll make sure I’m shapeshifted and have the Boon ring, Ring of Geniality, and silver pendant for Guidance equipped.

While these items are super fun and powerful, they remind me of why I love the early game. In my opinion, the challenge of having limited gear and resources makes for more interesting gameplay.

Yeah I agree with you act 1 is so fun! It also has incredible armor with the reverberation sets and radiating orbs. Some of that can last all game!

When I put timestamps people watch for 50% less time which hurts the video :( otherwise I would go back to doing that! Doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to spend time making my video perform worse unfortunately

Hey, man love your content. I pretty much agree with your placement of everything. Couldn't agree more about the Veil of the mourning as it's too situational at the point in the game you can get it. However, I would have switched the Robe of the Weave and the Rejuvenation robe. The robe of the weave is a fantastic clothing piece for all casting classes that can't wear armor. in my opinion, it's better than the soul rejuvenation which is mainly for monks. (The weave robe looks better too, lol). I think the veil of mourning doesn't come from Gortash, but from the Mystic Carion. Gortash's clothing looks amazing, it's too bad the effects are a bit lackluster compared to everything you can get.

@@nicksalem6277 Hey thanks so much, I appreciate that! Yeah the robe of the weave is pretty good I should’ve had it a bit higher. The vest of soul rejuvenation you can buy vs the robe of the weave you have to do lorroakan’s tower. Robe of the weave with pale orange dye becomes Goku robes lol I realized mid video I misspoke and said Gortash instead of the Philgrave (who also has an awesome necromancer staff!) but gortash’s is also meh.

Thing with the mask of the shapeshifter is you can also go Small and fit into air shafts and small openings which makes some things easier

I thought you'd bring up the Potent Robe. It's great for any Charisma caster. If you are a Sorcerer or anyone with access to a damaging cantrip, you can combine it with the Necklace of Elemental Augmentation to eventually get a +10 to your damage. Or just be a Warlock and get a +10 to every ray of Eldritch Blast. It also gives you some temporary hitpoints and a boost to your AC, so those are welcome. I'd put it in A tier.

sorry to hear some people were disrespectful or mean lol, especially when your tierlist is just your own opinion I agree with pretty much all your placements, although I'd order the top 3: Bhaalist, Persistence, Agility with the following reasoning 1. Bhaalist: every character in the game can inflict piercing damage and doubling all sources of it is overpowered, benefitting from multiple party members at the same time (eg your frontline pike wielder, and your long range bow wielder) 2. Persistence: as you mentioned every character can get heavy armour proficiency and will highly benefit defensively from equipping this (except barbarians) 3. Agility: highest AC in the game but only for dex characters on an unrelated note I definitely noticed your camera lagging behind the audio, I'm not sure which video editing software you use but I'd definitely recommend looking into Davinci Resolve. There's a completely free version (not a trial) that'll probably cover any editing needs you have, and I at least know for a fact you can unlink the audio and video and move them along the timeline for it to sync up properly (not an advert, and I'm not a content creator, it's just what I use to edit my clips before sending them to my frens)

Yeah I do these videos for fun but some people get really upset. It’s not okay to find my social media’s and spam me with hate messages hahaha. But yeah Bhaalist armor offers the most to everyone on the team because as you said anyone can get piercing damage. And hand crossbows are easy to come by Persistence and Agility armor are both really powerful Yeah my camera itself has a very slight delay when I’m filming, I’ve tried using post processing but I would need to film both sources separately and sync them afterward. Its something I’ve looked to fixing but it’s only off a few frames

Thanks for another great video, Jay. By the way, the Bhaalist Armor's vulnerability to piercing works even if the target has piercing resistance (or immunity iirc) including bosses in honor mode. I think it's a bug but it's still working. The range is confusing but I think it is 2m or at least some targets require you be that close. I assume hit box size affects this. In other words, tool tips in bg3 be lying. Ever since I realized these things, that little elephant sure seems to die a lot for some reason;)

The tool tip is wrong about the 2m too because it works in a 3m radius 😂 The flying elephant is a bit of a jerk so I never feel bad getting the best light armor in the game

@@JasonDunna yea I hear ya. A corrupt drunken law enforcement pachyderm is a menace imo;) And that 2m vs 3m thing is weird. I swear some mobs don't show the debuff until I am within 2m and others it shows at 3m, so I always check. Tricky if using bows/xbows to not get too close while getting debuff.

Yeah it’s quite buggy! Crossbow expert works really well here as you don’t get disadvantage from being close! With arrow of many targets the damage is wild !

Robe of the weave is a amazing combo for a sorcerer/monk build, unarmored defence makes up for the only 10 armour class of the garment

@@joshbell1335 taking a single level of barbarian at first gives you constitution saving throw proficiency, and unarmored defence scaling from CON (use amulet for greater effects) AND you can use a shield with it! Makes for a pretty tanky sorc

The Helldusk Armor is not that hard to get, if you have a hidden character attack Raphael when he first shows up and them silence him when he shows up in your camp on the way to the Mountain Pass. It takes a while, but just keep hitting him with non-lethal attack active and you can get it early.

You can get it as a bard/sorcerer/wizard and not to mention the amount of scrolls! It’s kinda like Animal Speaking where we get so many potions for that

To be fair, anything that is listed as very rare or legendary should be good gear, so I wouldn’t feel bad for praising them all if warranted. Of course, some gear will always be better than others so the ranking still helps. However, I am surprised you didn’t include the Elegant Studded Leather or the Potent Robe.

What shield, other than broken shield, gives you +1 AC? Even the worst ones in act 1 give +2 AC. There are also several non legendary shields that give +3 AC. The biggest bonus of Viconia's Walking Fortress are its abilities.

I personally am loving the Splint Adamantine with Heavy Weapon Master. Soak up 5 hp off hits, can't be crit, gives reeling to opponents that hit me. Might last the whole game like that, and let the other party members get the legendary armors and such!

The awesome thing about reeling is you can combine it with the boost of stormy clamour to give 2 stacks of reverberation every hit The adamantine shield applies reeling on misses so you can always stack it. Holy lance helm procs radiant damage on misses. Glove of belligerent skies adds 2 more stacks of reverberation on the radiant damage or Luminous gloves give 2 stacks of radiating orb Literally all act 1 gear that can carry you the entire game with incredible synergy

@@JasonDunna so true! I have a mage slayer build going, and apart from the Ring of Free Action and Gontr Mael, all my item slots are taken from Act 1. It seems my items are set, just not sure which feat I will take for my 4th... maybe mage slayer jajajaja

Fr I love using adamantine heavy armor for essentially the whole game. No crits, reducing that damage by 2 and with heavy armor master you’re basically unable to be killed

​@@JasonDunnaYou don't need to become an assassin of bhaal to get the bhaalist armor. If you pickpocket the red spirit that materializes while Sarevok gauges your character's malevolent deeds, you will be able to pickpocket the bhaalist armor off it for some reason. You just need your rogue or anyone that specializes in sleight of hand out of conversation for it.

this btw makes it for sure the best armor in the game, give it to a character with high movement and let your ranged attackers oneshot everything. i think every encounter is winnable in 1 turn with this if you minmax your party for it.

Putting the shape shifter mask in F tier in the thumbnail is pure bait. It's a free item that doesn't require concentration and has creative uses throughout the whole game, and you don't even need to keep it equipped, just re-equip it when you need to swap to a different race/sex

@@clarencewalters338 I’m not saying it bad, on a tier list I’m comparing it to the benefits the others on the list bring. It’s a great item! At will Disguise Self is amazing because it frees up a spell slot. I have to keep this balanced so some armor has to go in lower tiers.

@@JasonDunna I'm of the opinion it belongs in c tier instead of the armor you put there. It's applications are vast, you can swap it out for another helm at any time and keep the benefits and because this doesn't require concentration ALL allies can receive the benefits. Over the course of the game it's let me see far more interactions over the course of a playthrough than I'd otherwise have, saves countless spell slots to do it, maliciously abusable to stop enemies from accusing you of enchanting them(unsure if this extends to thievery as well since I haven't tested it), makes certain encounters easier by blending in with the "ideal" race for the encounter, or transform into a drow/gith and watch how everyone despises you no matter how much you help them lol.

I probably should have put it C tier but I try to always put one thing in the lowest tier It doesn’t have much combat use but if you have any weapons/armor that have extra benefits for Githyanki you can utilize that with this helmet! I mainly just ranked it lower because I only wear it less than 1% of my playtime, and other armor is usually always equipped

I agree, it's a super useful item. Getting into small spaces as a gnome, being a drow in act 1.. lots of great uses. I always utilize it for act 1.
