Baldur's Gate 3: Mind Flayer Ending w/options

26:10 not gonna lie, i picked this ending in my first playthrough, and hearing the narrator say “you have earned the right to live” as someone who is currently struggling with mental illness kinda made me cry a bit

I tried the kys option and reslly thought that my romanced Karlach would stop me or at least say something but she just stood in the background, not even flinching. The game's rough edges really started showing towards the end... In my opinion, should you choose this ending, you should be stopped by your party if you have enough approval with all of them, or at least your romanced one. It kind of made me feel like they kind of wanted me dead ever since turning into a squid

i think only one of them will stop you, for me it was gale and that hurt... bc i did what i told him not to do.

Yes it was a bit weird, for me it was Astarion, whom I had the lowest approval... I definitly would have preferred an interaction from my dear Shadowheart

I agree - I feel like this ending should change if people like you enough. Because if someone I loved was about to do that, I sure as heck wouldn't stand by and do nothing.

I agree, there are just so many variables to account for, sometimes the combinations fall short, but it's still impressive what they've done, despite a few shortcomings, it's got to be the most complex game in terms of story outcome possibilities ever made.

just finished my first playthrough as a light domain cleric (selunite obviously) who returned beloved Shadowheart to the moon maiden faith and helped her in saving her parents even if this saving was to let them go for their own daughter's future and in astral prism I hardly believed that Orpheus could go for a mindflayer sacrifice, so I gave Shadowheart last kiss and made my Tav become the mindflayer it's a shame that Karlach's fate scene starts after mindflayer-Tav's future decision.. because I choosed kms option and heard Shadowheart's very emotional "What are u doing?! No!" and then Karlach just dies while so called "blade of Avernus" just standing here at the background and can't persuade her not to do it without my Tav :D

Strongly disagree. The Emperor is an utter sociopath, and Vlaakith deserves to be put through a little terrorism. Omeluum proves Mind Flayers can be decent without being assholes.

I have to say not saying goodbye to your allies when you choose to die as a bit odd. Shadowheart just seeing you ripped away so abruptly without even being able to say goodbye. I was a tad bitter.

I was tempted to choose the kys option, if I turned into a creature that needed to eat the brains of sapient creatures I’d end it all. However, I wasn’t ready for them to choose the method, like dude go for the throat why did you twist the blade lol?

Seing how SH broke up with me silently after all the sacrifices I did and seing how they all acted as if I became a stranger and wasn’t the leader that carried them all trough out the Underdark, the Nautiloid, House of Hope and many more adventures kinda made me sad and angry 😠 I’m never turning into a squid again in any play trough, time to go full Durge 😈

Wait did astarion die on the first set of options he seems to be ready then says oh god like he know death is approaching then run to dust off screen to spare are character seeing him like that

No he's just running for shade as sunlight is now able to burn him again. Doesn't die though he becomes a creature of the shadows again

This is only one of many possible options, I wouldn't worry about it too much. That said, I agree. Spoiler titles are a bitch.

@@SuperKratosgamer I know right. The title makes it abundantly clear its spoilers. The only "spoil" in the title is "mind flayer ending.." which even that is open to interpretation of what it actually means so hardly that significant of a spoiler. Also, you have a damn tadpole in your brain - did anyone at ever point not think this was going to be 1 of the endings for the story?
