And of course they're all immediately hugging each other and tearing up. Everyone at Larian say that working there is a family, and you can really feel that. @@alexwtf80 As much as I'd like to heap praise on the devs (which they deserve!), you're right. You could put the best developers in the world together but if they're under poor management, the game will still turn out poor. Devs and designers and all those who actually _make_ the game need the freedom to do their best, need to feel that they're allowed to let their creativity run wild, need to know they'll be supported, need to feel connected, like they're a community rather than slaves to a capitalistic greedy management. Good management without good devs won't amount to much either, but good devs can only show how good they are if management gives them the space and the trust to do so.

As a fan of Larian since Divine Divinity, I've spent the past 20+ years watching them prove themselves to be the innovators and greatest developers in the RPG space, and I've seen them snubbed or just outright overlooked countless times. This long-time fan is so proud that they finally got their recognition, and it's even sweeter because they beat out some legitimately stiff competition in a year packed with hard-hitting games. Sven standing there in full plate armor (or well, half of it as sitting there probably started to hurt) simply says enough. Bunch of heroes, all of them.

Don’t thank Sven for wearing the armor. Thank the bard that convinced Sven to wear that with his 20 role persuasion

Much like we see in history, a great man with true dedication and passion for his work (who sacrificed much) brought advancements to his profession that will benefit us all.

I was thinking that I liked playing video games less and less. Then there was Bdg3. I had never played a turn-based game in my life. But I gave it a go, and I've still been playing it since it came out. I even started game again, that had never happened to me before. This game is for me this memory which will always have its place in my heart. As Lord of the Rings for the cinema. Seeing these people work together it's beautiful, no matter if it's the music ( Song of Balduran 🙏/ I want to live❤/ The power choral version ✨), the storyline, the dialogues, the gameplay, the motion capture, the actors, etc. They all work for the same goal, to share their passions with us. This game offers us real choices, the universe is mature and we want to see more of Faerun. As a player, I feel respected, Thanks ⚔

This comment is for those who are really interested in why Bg3 won game award. I often see the same questions, so I want to help figure it out -The game is holistic and this despite the fact that there are a colossal number of possible developments of events in it -no microtransactions AT ALL -Characters (both main) and third-party have their own ideals, opinions and, most importantly, PERSONALITY. It's not boring to play even after 100 hours, because you believe that they are not just another npc. -This is a very smart strategy. Everything is limited only by your imagination. At first it seems simple, but many battles are a hundred times larger scale chess. You always have to think ahead and it's very exciting -The game is large-scale, but at the same time very filled with events. Yes, it’s events, not mediocre activities or grind. -One of the best multiplayer games because together this adventure becomes even more exciting and you can still choose your path. Heck, you can kill your partner at the end or at another point in the game and just carry on as if nothing happened. It won't break the game -Excellent side missions with a large number of outcomes. -Awesome soundtrack -Three different acts. The developers could have easily made three games out of them, but did not do this, releasing the game completed -Excellent acting for ALL characters, not to mention the main ones -excellent optimization despite the fact that the game weighs more than 150 GB. -This game is not for everyone. If you've played The Witcher, you understand the importance of Bg3 to the industry. You won't find anything even close to this game. It set a new bar. If you are truly interested in the gaming industry, then even when criticizing a game you cannot deny its importance. After its release, developers from other studios openly stated that this game was an ANOMALY for the industry, because it was very difficult to make. These are not my words. KZbin is full of videos on this topic. In conclusion, I can only say that I don’t understand the hate towards the game. did you want the games to be full-fledged, working, not take you for an idiot, give full content for a full price, be exciting at any time during the playthrough and finally make the playthrough more variable? get it! I understand that not everyone will like the game because it is strategic. I may surprise you, but in the gaming industry today there are a huge number of adults over 20 years old who do not want to play monotonous shooters and endless action games with monetization and a plot for middle school students. Strategy is a grown-up genre. So this is either not your genre or you are not mature enough yet. GOTY is the award for the best game in its GENRE, not for the best graphics or popularity. Bg3 is like a book "War and peace". For teenagers it may be boring, too much history, characters, philosophy, but for adults it's a masterpiece

This game deserves this 1000x times over. Before I bought this game I was in such a dump, every day I was just mindlessly playing anything to keep my mind off of things going on in my life. Sometimes I would just stare at a blank screen for hours. I've been in a really dark place for a LOOOONG time, and I mean a really fucking dark place. This game saved me from that and other things like my own mind and has become one of, if not my favourite games of all time. Thank you larian.

Despite the world of Baldurs gate 3 being filled with some really fucked up shit i can tell many were loving it so much that they probably wish they could abandon their own real world (especially in dark times) to be in BG3s. This game showed me and many others truly amazing games can still be made

I have not been this obsessed with a game in a very long time. Playing BG3 is all I seem to think about when I'm not busy doing something. Everything was just so well done and it's very easy to see that this game was made with love, by nerds for nerds. I'm on my first playthrough, just about 100hrs into the game and maybe about halfway through Act 2. Insane amount of content.

This award is a HUGE slap in the face for the likes of Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft and others who insists on DLC, loot boxes, unfinished products, focus only on online and bad quality in general.

Ahh, they did it 🎉 didn’t take me long to tear up along with them, I actually didn’t fully clock they’d got game of the year until Chalamet said it, I saw the video title but damn I’m tired. I knew, but then I felt. My heart swelled, my eyes welled. Sven in his armour, what a noble nerd 😁 So deserved. I’ll see Mr C in Wonka tonight as it happens too.
