Balenciaga 53rd Couture Collection

“This couture collection is a tribute to subculture dress codes as important influences of my fashion vocabulary. I chose four permanent components of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s last two decades of collections and applied them on my design aesthetic in order to create a bridge between Balenciaga’s signature elegance and silhouette and my own personal style.” - Demna
At the salons de Couture located at 10 avenue George V in Paris, Balenciaga presented its 53rd Couture Collection today. 39 looks including everyday wardrobe garments, a variety of upcycled and reconstructed pieces and gowns were introduced.

Gonna chime in here. I appreciate you capturing the house codes in their subtle forms. However, my issue is the overall tone. I don't think Cristobal would appreciate the current tone of the house. Both pizza and Potatoes Au Gratin contain cheese, but each dish has a different mood, a different presentation, a different time and place to eat them--a different tone! Demna can do elegance, but there is always something sinister, something dark, something hidden, something disturbed lurking below the surface in even the most glamorous of his productions, which I think would trouble Cristobal.

Great collection! I always love how Demna's references can be easily recognized and not overtly fantasy. The details and time spent crafting each look are what make the piece live beyond the reference. Excited to see the detail shots and closer look into some of the pieces like the belt gown, denim shark dress, rock band t-shirts.

Конкретнее новаторство в отдельных творениях - кутюрные сложные подиумные изделия на особые мероприятия собираются из цельных элементов базовой, спортивной, уличной одежды. Даже если такое уже было (а оно было), эти не имеет значения, потому что конкретные изделия на моделях неповторимы, хоть и могут иметь вдохновения у Maison Margiela. Опять же, даже если брать их в пример - Демна работал там и имеет право вдохновляться. В конце концов, все чем-то вдохновляются, как и азиатские дизайнеры и Рик, о которых вы говорили))
