Bought in Tabanan, Bali in 1998. Gong Gede is a rare form of ceremonial gamelan typically employed in court processions and so on, predating the now-popular 'keybar' style

Gong Gde was exclusively Temple & ceremonial music, rarely if ever played at the courts. Thank you for the upload.

I love the musical transition from haunting West Java, to mystical Central Java, and finally to frantic ecstatic East Java and Bali
@Sawrattan3 жыл бұрын
Definitely reflects their history and regional dynamics (anarchic rebellious East Java, courtly conservative Central Java, and aloof West Java).

Feverish, otherworldly.. Aptly described! It just makes one wonder did the Balinese chance upon another whole new plane of existence..?

@annagibbs16810 жыл бұрын
The gamelan is really a set of instruments, like xylophones and gongs, they are very rare, I only know of one of the most complete sets in the US and that is in Portland.
