Oh my Lord, such memories! I grew up about 30 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio and I started doing that when I was 9 years old... My people never farmed, but I was always next door on the local dairy farm... Until I was 19, that's all I knew about life and the evil things of this world... I loved it then... and I love now... I'll be 75 in October and believe with all my heart that there isn't a better place to live and raise a family... I envy you and your family for what you have... and I don't mean just the farm... There a good lookin' group and they work well together and I would say, they love each other... God bless you all...

That 1600 is a beauty. Mom is lovely. She looks like the perfect country lady. As to the 125 bales an acre: you're leaving a lot of hay on the ground with those basket rakes. Maybe they're missing teeth. If you can, score a Vee rake at a sale. It'll sweep the stubble clean, and cut your raking time down to 1/5 or less of what it is now. You can operate it as fast as you want. I went flat out road gear with our 1550, and only throttled back and pulled the Hydra-Power for the corners. Our fields were very smooth for that purpose. Raking close to 20 acres an hour can make the difference between getting the field baled or not. Time is everything when rain is coming. Plus it saves a lot of fuel rolling 3 into 1 in one pass. I'd never make hay again without one.
@pennderosafarms79105 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That Oliver is been a great tractor. My mom was raised on that farm and when my grandparents passed away I bought it so, I guess that's why she looks like she belongs there. It would be great to have a rake like that, we only bale about four to five hundred Bales a year but, maybe one day fingers crossed.

That's impressive! It warms my heart to know people still use old equipment like this instead of rotting in a field or land fill. Mine is actually not PTO driven, it’s an ultra rare model with a Milwaukee motor for pulling behind a pickup truck. My John Deere dealer said John Deere made them with Wisconsin motors and had a short run of Milwaukee’s, but due to high price, returned back to Wisconsin motors. It's a mystery why my father bought it in the first place, at the time he had 9 John Deere tractors ranging from 28-70hp. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to get it working but don’t know where to find motor parts.

They knew what work was.... and the chickens... bring back memories too. We still do it today ! Chickens too. Nothing like buying the trash eggs from town..... yokes run like water. Farm fresh eggs....most done even know the difference !
