Great innings!!!! saeed anwar and amir sohail were the best openers of the time. I strongly feel saeed anwer could have played a little more after 03 WC. he was in good form then. after saeed anwer Pakistan really struggled to have strong opening pair and till date opening has been a problem for Pakistan. Saeed Anwar was probably the best left handed batsman Pakistan has ever produced.

They have played good innings in 1996 WC against India too, Saeed Anwer made 48 runs in just 32 balls, Amir sohail made 55 runs in 46 balls, they were on a very good partnership but then Amir sohail sledged and challenged Venkatesh Prasad and then Prasad nicely bold Amir sohail, and after that the Brilliant partnership ended, if Amir sohail wouldn't have challenged Prasad, then Saeed and Amir's partnership would have continued further and Pakistan would have won it. It was Amir's mistake that he challenged Prasad and then ruined the partnership. Pakistan also lost because of bad middle order performance, Inzimam didn't perform well and Ijaz Ahmed also only scored 12 runs, and then Javed scored 38 but took alot of balls which also is a big factor that why Pakistan lost that match. But still hats off to Saeed Anwer, amazing player, he played brilliant innings against India in that match too, If his partner sohail wouldn't have made that partnership to end then Pakistan could easily win that match.

​@@islamistruth1389 it was a fix game, match fixing was at it's peak that time. as everyone knows Wasim Akram announced himself unfit just 1 hour before the start of the match, why he suddenly got unfit just before a very crucial and big match, a big question mark arises there ????? Team played without the leader and an experience player can be handled easily and can be destroyed easily. Secondly Pakistan openers did a great job because they got 100 in the twelvth over and why the rest of the Batsmen were not able to get 180 odd runs in 38-39 overs with huge batting lineup on a pure batting track was also a big question mark again???? And Amir Sohail lost his concentration, he should have stayed there to lead the team from front. He gifted his wicket on a straight forward and on a simple ball. anger is always anti wisdom.
