This doesn’t really help. We need to see 2023 relief from a larger bunker face. Aldo need to show all options such as in line relief.

Well that's an interesting question. If you lifted it without marking it, then you'd incur a penalty if it's not embedded and you have to replace it. But if it was embedded, then you could take free relief, no penalty incurred.

Rule 2.2c If the ball is touching the green, the ball is in the green! in this example you get a free relief and you can fix the divot.

You couldnt take free relief to play from the bunker, but you could take penalty relief to play from the bunker.

What happens if there is no relief available in the general area?

You find the nearest spot that is in the general area. In very rare cases, this may happen to be the spot behind the bunker.

Hey Blakey, it looks like part of the ball could be embedded in the putting green. I’m guessing that can’t be the case because it would have changed the process you’ve followed.

Yeah if it was in the green, there would be no free relief, but the player could replace their ball on a spot on the green, no nearer the hole where it would stay, if they had marked and lifted it.

There's no free relief from an embedded ball in a penalty area, a bunker, the putting green, or teeing area.

​@@GolfRulesQuestionsA Teeing Area for a Hole other than the Hole I am playing is General Area for me. Also a Ball Embedded in a Green, allows me to Mark and Lift the Ball, Repair the Putting Surface and then Replace the Ball to where it had been Embedded.
