Phantom and Bamboo are allelic,same BEL complex that’s why you can’t produce a normal morph for the minimum bec it acts like super,that also explains the maximum 9 combo genes

I've always wondered if the Storm Trooper was a double axanthic . . . Maybe they thought they had hets from the same line and it was actually 2 different hets that eventually got passed down the tree. Thats been my guess anyways. I enjoy all your videos! Thanks for keeping up with it. I learn so much 😊

Are bamboo and phantom allelic? That would explain why they aren't showing up. If the only single gene combo you can produce is bamboo or phantom, the calculator isn't broken.

The bamboo and the Phantom are allelic which is why you only see 2 single gene animals . every single animal will have either phantom or bamboo in it so you only have the possibility of 2 1 gene animals. No normals. And 9 max gene out of 10.

@@ruthless9609 not with dominate and codominant genes. Bamboo is a codom and so is phantom. Complete codoms are usually called supers and are visually different from incomplete codoms. Doms can be heterozygous (1 gene present) or homozygous (2 genes present) but it doesnt influence the pattern. Pinstripe versus Super Pinstripe is an example. Recessive genes are different. They can be heterozygous or homozygous. An example of a recessive is Piebald. The heterozygous version will be nonvisual bar some possible markers: dragged pattern toward the tail, "railroad tracks" on the belly, and a connected dorsal stripe toward the tail of the snake, etc. Those are only indicators if pied was present in the parents. In the case of a homozygous pied animal, you get the classic Piebald. I hope that helped and I didnt come off as a douche canoe. Also, thats my understanding of how it works and if I am wrong in any way, I wish to be corrected.

It's recessive you wouldn't get a double visual you get double hets or something that's the best of both worlds and that would mean they were compatible but still recessive. Like the enhancer and desert ghost.

I am interested in and plan to breed ball pythons in the future and I was planning on buying both a Female and Male Yellow Belly Albino Het Pied from someone but he told me that you shouldn't breed an albino to an albino because even though it works out fine most of the time, sometimes the offspring can be "weaker." I asked what he meant by that and if he had a source for it (because I can't find anything on this anywhere!) but he didn't really help clarify or provide a source, he just said experienced breeders know this and new breeders might not. So, is this true? Is it possible breeding an albino to an albino can result in some offspring that maybe are more prone to health issues or have a weaker immune system or something? Any insight on this would be really helpful!

I believe with the toffee and candy they both work together to produce a visual snake. Just like toffee with albino and candy with albino one copy of each gene (het) give you a visual. I know morphmarket's calculator doesn't display the visual hets correctly. But yeah I believe if ya had a snake that is het toffee and het candy you'll get a visual. Also I know I saw a snake listed het vpi, tsk and mj axanthic. I couldn't find the ad again, I did find a guy that has a het albino, pied, vpi, tsk axanthic listed but the ad stated he didnt know which line of axanthic, that's why he listed it as double het axanthic. Possibly that's what the other ad was, the person just listed every type of axanthic cause they didnt know truly what was what... but if I recall the price was pretty high. Good video again Chris

Idk how much I agree with your inclusion of lavender albinos on this list. It depends on what you define a project as. In reality, these snakes should be gene sequenced to instantly prove genes and it would make it far easier to keep track of. Especially with more expensive snakes, people could make a genetic database, seems like it would be worth it for the large breeders with a lot of money.

Hey chris, looking to start breeding ball pythons. Which incubator do you recommend or should I go diy cooler?
@shannonbailey3424 жыл бұрын
I just had my first (unexpected) clutch. I looked up diy incubator on KZbin and came across one that i tried. Took an igloo cooler drill a couple of holes in top. Take an aquarium water heater and water circulation fan. Put water in bottom just enough to cover both water heater and fan. Then i put eggs in a shoe box tub with 2 holes on opposite side and a lid that is not air tight. I put dry substrate in shoe box to cradle eggs. When putting shoe box in the cooler i made a stand so the shoe box wasnt touching the water. Then once a wk i would pop open cooler wipe off condensation from shoe box lid and 60 days later i had 100% successful hatch.

really random question and potentially dumb as i am new-ish to ball pythons but why are super fire (black eye leucistics) so expensive? the look really cool but you can get a male and female fire for like $50 each and for example you could get a male and female pastel for $50 each and if you breed them and get a super pastel it cost what $80? but you breed the fires and get a leucistic and the cheapest you can find is a $300 male. I understand that they look alot cooler and are more desirable i guess but they are equally as easy to breed as any other gene so i dont understand why they cost so much. also same with super butter (BEL) butter is a bit more expensive about $100 per snake to breed but BEL cost up to $800 and again is it not just as easy to breed as any other co dom gene? When i said $100 per snake to breed i meant for just the actual single gene snake not the cost to actually breed it but thanks for explaining guys
@antoniogonzalez45344 жыл бұрын
I thought same but came to conclusion that they're in a high demand also say you do try to breed one the cost of heating and feeding for up to 3 years has to be accounted for not to mention the cleaning of 2 snakes then let's say you succeed and get 8 eggs maybe 1 or 2 will come out super if lucky maybe more if real lucky or even a chance of 0 now you have 10 snakes to house feed and clean clearly costing more then the few extra hundred bucks if you just bought a super in first place lol
@ruthless96094 жыл бұрын
Supply and demand is the route to all economics. Super pastels been around since the beginning and it's not that impressive. Thus driving down the need and driving up supply thus we get an inexpensive product. Other more desirable genes like lets use the super sulfur, need goes up supply goes down and in turn drives up prices. This is the same for single genes too. It might only be one gene but when a new gene comes up prices are crazy... ex: zuwadi is pretty new and single geners are going for $2000-4000. Hopefully this crash course in economics helps out

you don't want to breed spiders at all you could bring two spiders with absolutely no head wobble and half of their babies might still need to be put down. it's really cruel to breed a species for their looks if it's sacrifices their quality of life. Please do not buy or breed spider ball pythons
