My daughter has a male yellow belly banana pastel. For sure the chillest snake we have. He likes being held. We travel 2 hours one way for our snakes vet. We take a bag for him but we never use it. He just stays around her neck or in her pocket for HOURS upon HOURS. Hasn't ever defecated on us either. (knock on wood) He gets more stunning as he gets older (2yrs?) Reminds me of a chill chubby newborn puppy. It took almost 6 months for him to relax & stop balling up. Raising them in tiny drawers is sad.

If u don't like the freckles ( black spots) in a banana or coral glow u can get the super banana or coral glow, they will pass on that gen for sure and it will not have the freckles

@@TheCharleseye As a pet snake people will pay for the super as they don't like the spots. As a breeder it doesn't matter so much but as a breeder I would rather breed a super over a single gene banana. All the babies will be at least a banana as the super will always pass the banana gene. So I think the price difference is due to no spots, keeping it as a pet or breeding, and as breeding do u want a chance to pass a normal gene or do u want a for sure banana in all babies Just my opinion take it or leave it I breed single gene bananas now but I should be makeing some super as well as pastel, yellow belly super this year. I then will be using them in my freeway and highway project to make Pastel banana freeway and pastel banana highways

@@forfun212678 No, I chose to spend (less) money on a Banana het Clown. I'm not at all concerned about passing normal genes because I'm a hobbyist. If I produce normals, I produce normals. No big deal. It's not like I can't sell them easily. Meanwhile, because my Banana is het Clown and my Enchi female is het Clown, that holds a lot more potential than simply breeding a super Banana to...well, much of anything. As for what pet buyers buy, the vast majority of pet buyers go for the cheapest pet they can...which is why I have no problem with hatching normals. They sell. A normal is a quick $20-$50. A Banana is a slightly less quick $125-$150. Either way, I empty a slot in my rack, put a little money towards my snakes and keep going. No big deal. If I ever end up with a Super Banana, I'll likely hold it back (especially considering it will be pos het Clown). I had no interest in spending money out of pocket for one, though.

The firat BP I wanted was a banana/ CG but at the time their price was astronomical so for most people who are not breeding it wasn't reasonable. Then something that turned me off about Banana/CG is the freckles/spots and there not really any way to ensure that there wont be besides a super banana and lets be real a typical person cant afford one lol. I absolutely LOVE banana/CG. I love the Black Pastel/ cinnamon go with banana/CG. Just amazing! The banana lesser is definitely talking to you. Is she typically vocal? I think its awesome to see in a BP. Have a great day!!

I'm not a fan of single gene Banana/Coral Glow, but that's only because I dislike the colour yellow. I love the purple they have, especially when combined with darker genes such as Black Pastel or Cinnamon.

So from what I'm getting, a male banana ball python is a male maker or a female maker based on which parent he got his banana gene from. If so, what would a super banana male, who got his banana gene from both sides, become? Assumably he would throw equal male and female since *all* of his offspring would be bananas, correct? I find the science behind this gene very interesting... especially since male/female makers still only produce around 90% bananas of that gender... which means it's not a purely sex-linked gene, it's only semi (or quasi?) sex-linked. Fascinating.

So you said you where trying to through in different morphs to see what you like and don't like. Have you found any morphs that you aren't fond of with the banana?

There are a few that have been disappointing. Banana genetic stripes are pretty dull and patternless. I'm working on adding some other genes to them to bring the contrast to the pattern back- leopard and enchi will be the first ones I'm combining. Spider and pinstripe by themselves aren't my favorite, either. The pattern is too thin to see any real contrast. I'm working on adding calico, enchi, leopard and some other genes to them to see if I can make a more high contrasted pattern. I'm sure there are others that I can't think of right now.

I don't know if you would see any of the banana influence in a toffee. I've produced albino bananas and they look like any other albino. I am working on some toffee combos with other genes, though.

In my opinion, banana pinstripes develop the perfect amount of spots. The dark spots only develop within the thin "pinstriping" pattern, so essentially they develop very few.

A male-maker's banana offspring will also be male makers. I have noticed that now that I am several generations in, I am seeing some of my male-makers producing more females, though. I think it is still to early to figure out if they will eventually produce an even ratio in a few more generations.

Banana x banana = 1/4 normal, 1/2 banana, and 1/4 super banana. I don't know if it matters if the male was a male maker or female maker. You can get both sexes in the clutch.
