Tennessee didn’t put too much on film for Pitt. They looked methodical for a reason. Easy plays on offense with mediocre defensive game plan. Understand, football is a chess match. Game plan will be much different/exciting next week.

Exactly. Vols won 59-10 and I’ve seen people not happy with how the vols played lol. Like…it’s game 1 against a weak opponent. Most of the 2nd half was our backups in. Next week at Pitt will tell us more. Go Vols!

Our goal this year is to be more methodical offensively, not just this game because our defense needs to be on the field as little as possible, top help them with getting off the field on 3rd down. We also lost our 2 deep ball guys in Payton and velus. So although we still want to be efficient and score when we can it’ll be a little different this year. Nice post.

I was with about 150 Tennessee fans at a Sports Bar in Denver watching this game and right after the opening interception I said "Now we need Hooker to throw a TD on our first offensive play of the game." And he did !!!

The bad thing about opening up against a nobody is you still don't know what to expect when you play Bama, Kentucky, Florida, LSU, and Georgia within 6 weeks this year. The odds are stacked against TN schedule wise, but they're undoubtedly moving in the right direction as a program.

As a diehard Georgia fan that lives in TN I'd love to see them make a run to pacify all of my friends, but I just don't think it's gonna be easy for them this year. If Tennessee had more depth they be a very dangerous team yes Tennessee has a top 25 schedule but it's still way easier then playing thier normal top 4 schedule and playing Florida georgia bama +one more west team all in a row then throw in a team like Oklahoma like they usually have

Tennessee only put up 38 points on a worse Bowling Green team last year. They were up 38-0 at halftime in this game. It doesn’t mean much, but the improvement is obvious. First time Tennessee has been able to have backups play the whole 2nd half in an opener in years.

Tennessee did what they were supposed to. Considering the number opportunities ball st had on offense, the defense did pretty well even with backups playing late. 3 turnovers, 2 of which were interceptions? I'll take it even if we didn't produce sacks. Kinda hard to sack when the QB throws the ball in 3 seconds or less.

Ball state. Laughable. These big schools are always scheduled to play extremely weak teams to make them look tough. Make Tennessee play Michigan, USC, Penn State, Texas and so forth. The Vol’s and all those other big schools would have numerous loses every year. Those programs couldn’t handle the thought of that. UT will lose again to Georgia, Florida, and Alabama like usual.

And Alabama wins the natty every year you know who they have to play to win that the best teams in the nation same with Georgia they had to beat Michigan and Alabama to win last year oh and Florida with Tim Tebow won like 2 and beat bama and Georgia and more .
