I am Dutch and 62 years old. I am a big fan of Spaghetti Western music and also of the "regular" Western music (Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Rawhide etc.) . I also love country songs, especially those that tell a story that can be made into a movie. Marty Robbins was a star in this and, for example, Lorne Greene too. This song is just awesome and should be a big hit but unfortunately the charts are generally full of junk. This song is a gem, well sung and the whistling at the end is the icing on the cake. Great job guys.
@hoborock0072 жыл бұрын
Howdy Ruud ..I appreciate your feedback and kind words. I'm real happy you enjoyed it..yeah l like the whistling at the end too ...it was a last minute idea. The engineer / producer (Kenny) grabbed a microphone from the back and set it up near his board and did it on the spur of the moment.. l think it adds a haunting cowboy sound, that wasn't planned.. but a nice touch. BTW.. this is just a hobby for me.. but the studio there in Nashville.. is top notch. I think the song will hit 1/4 million views this weekend.💫 ..Rich

@@hoborock007 I am only a modest man from the small Netherlands (17 million inhabitants) A pinprick on the globe, as it were. I go all over the world via KZbin in search of beautiful music and beautiful songs. Coincidentally I ran into your channel. What a blessing. This song is in my head all the time and it would fit well in a good western. You deserve millions of views sir. In my humble opinion: I have a good ear for melody and good vocals and this song has it all. My small country contains 17 million inhabitants but I predict when people discover your channel that this song attracts at least 5 times the number of listeners. I hope my english is a little good.

@mrwaterschoot5617 Жыл бұрын
yes this is a good song it dates me because i heart songs of old when i was a kid. fyi i was born 1956 in the fall in the netherlands. my dad married my mom in january 1953 after he finished his tour of duty in the royal dutch military commando corps as part of his mandatory conscripted tour of duty. he went in as a private first class foot soldier in january 1952. the day before he was discharged he was promoted to "korporal" and honorably discharged. my mom was 18 on january 23. 1953 and they were married 3 days later in a civil service ceremony at town hall. they had a roman catholic ceremony. on may 6, 1953 .pictures showed dad carried my mom outside of the town hall and outside of the church and my mom wore a dress of white. it was challenging times. mom was about 9 when she was part of the liberation of the nazi occupied holland. she remembered being given an american milk chocolate bar named Hershey and my guess is it was made in Hershey Pennsylvania. i was in my 40s when i visited Hershey with my wife her matron of honor and the riley flower girls from our wedding in 1999. so that was in the 2000s. the flower girls were as young as my mom when we were at the town and facility where candy was made. it was a government issued gi joe who gave her first taste of america. dad barely talked of world war 2. he was a teenager on the liberation of eindhoven. he did mentioned that food was so scarce that a stray cat ended up as a sunday dinner dressed up as a rabbit dinner. and i have a suspicion that he did the butchering the cat for dinner. when we raised rabbits i was trained by hermann the german from the family house of schmidt and a decorated combatant and survivor of the korean war. i learned to harvest rabbits for food. i did the killing and dad helped a little or left me with the harvesting and mom did the cooking and cleaning and freezing for a later meal. heart and liver and kidneys and liver were fried up for fresh meat. i find it odd that dad did the chopping off of the heads of chickens and i helped with plucking feathers from the headless birds and then general clean up. with the bird brained critters the stomach was opened and cleaned out of grit and other contents to be fried up or ended up it other food momma cooked up. damn i am a hank williams junior country boy i can survive. i think my daddy was a dutch was a commando who served as a combatant in the north/south conflict called korea. the time frame fits as the dutch seen military persons to korea as part of the north atlantic treaty organization (nato) peace keepers. 1950 something. there were deaths recorded. but the dutch were not happy with young men fighting overseas. very similar to americans were not happy with fighting in vietnam. i was 18 in 1974 and registered for the draft as a naturalized american citizen. if drafted i would have had to go to vietnam and it was in the process that i thank god i missed. i do know after the fact classmates in school went as volunteers in military service. i never had the desire to see military combat. and the post traumatic stress disorder (pstd) of being raised do not kill and then put into a kill or be killed situation call war. government sanctioned or not. i do have a healthy respect for those who served as a volunteer or a draftee and i have a respect for the conscious objector or these who thought it better to leave the country than be in a situation to kill or be killed. president jimmy carter pardoned those who left the country to not be drafted. i do not have any statistics but i might of had dinner with a good american missionary family. the father served in the korean war. yet his oldest son moved to Novia Scotia canada to make his own life and family. was he a draft avoider or was it another reason. he made his choices and he was able to visit his birth family. i do not have to know. it is a choice. my dad uprooted my mom and baby sister and me and a baby brother on the way for a land called america. was the low land of the dutch country side to wet for my had mr. waterschoot. was it to small a country for dad and his mother in law. or a search for new opportunity. dad took his decision to his grave on june 8, 2012. 2 days after d-day and one day before his departed mother maria's birthday or two days before the birth of his know it all daughter maryann the youngest baby boomer generation (1946-1964) baby girl maryann a me me my my child another misfit. a narcissistic alcoholic with a magnet to crashes with traumatic brain injury in a sledding accident in 1970 and so many car crashes that she is a designated crash dummy. a champagne drinker on a beer dollar pocket book. and a spend it before you can afford it. a misplaced sneeze her brain aneurysm will pop goes the weasel and maryann is gone. maryann goes to a social function and is a two fisted long island ice tea drinker. one in the left hand and one in the right hand and a standing order keep bringing the happy drinks rolling in. she brags that she knows the bar tenders well and she tipps and pays them that they give her so much alcohol she can not walk straight. she is lucky that her husband and some good friends take her keys away and drive her chevy blazer truck home a mile away from the party. her no good friends make sure that she is drunk as a skunk. she has a genetic tendency to be a drunk like daddy but i think his drinking occasionally to dunken stupor was a pstd from seeing combat action in korea. maryann's drinking and drug and pain killer use is just for the fun of it. she thinks that she needs new kidneys liver and heart. since she is a closet and public drinker her organs are already pickled in alcohol and she is not eligible for organ transplant. she already has polycystic ovaries, liver problems colon problems hearing problems heart damage with a aorta separation and other issues. yet dad endured 5 heart bypasses. kidney surgery to remove kidney stones in the sixties before newer the stone prevention medications. he had monster gall stones before his gall bladder was removed. he was diabetic like mom and his mom and hi dad. my dad stronger man than me. i have diabetics and endured lyme disease for over 2 years due to medical failure to give me enough medication to kill the blood infection. i went from 220lbs down to 170 lbs in a month and it bottomed at 142 lbs 3 months later. and this is of from a man who was six foot six. god knows the mess that i am in. take care my friends.

@@hoborock007 like wise you earned the compliment. i found not that long ago. l like to think thar t could be a glen campbell rhinestone cowboy. or a ed bruce last cowboy song or a tobey keith should have been a cowboy. and believe it or not. my grandma waterschoot sent a we care package from the netherlands with lego building blocks and a tee pee and last but not least cowboy hats and costumes for 2 younger siblings and me. and that was back in 1964 when i was a tall long eared galoot we saw on quick draw mcgraw and his desi arnaz babaa louie side side. hey that i was a cowboy in my younger days 1960 something. hey again i loved the movie space cowboys. friend have a good day and happier cowboy days tomorrows.

Listen to Marty Robbins' music. You'll satisfy that longing. Lol 😆
@ArcoZakus3 жыл бұрын
@@scootermom1791, "Listen to Marty Robbins' music. ..." I second that recommendation. "El Paso" was a big hit on the radio long before MTV brought us music videos, but that song didn't need one. I can still feel a deep burning pain in my siiiiide and see a white puff of smoke from the rifle whenever I listen to it. Or even just think about it. (Owwww.) Johnny Cash's "Don't take Your Guns To Town" left a similar strong impression. (Was Billy Joe the "handsome young stranger" in El Paso?) There's a few more like that, old and new, in a playlist that anyone who likes this song might like, too: Playlist: "Music, Outlaws" -- ArcoZakus kzbin.info/aero/PL187Ne8GR4V6rfoYtIlFKf7r5lcvDl5EU (Work in progress, contents and sequence still being refined.)

@@scootermom1791 love Marty's stuff. So few artists today want to play this type and if they do then radio won't play it. Independent artists are the way to go today.
