Since the 1990s, the parish has become a significant tourist destination, with most visitors going to the Treasure Beach area. The Appleton rum distillery, near the rough Cockpit Country in the north of the parish, is also a tourist destination. The Cockpit area was the site of Maroon settlements through much of the 18th century. Ecological tourism along the Black and YS rivers, and in the Great Morass, has been developed in recent years.
I am Fire Reid. Welcome to my KZbin Channel. Here you will see True Jamaican Country life. Real Jamaican Vibes. Life on the Farm with the plants and animals. Exploring intersting Jamaican places. COME ALONG ON THIS JOURNEY WITH ME. FIRE REID - True Jamaican Vibes

Mr Reid good morning it's been a great pleasure watching this video very beautiful area seems like a good cultivating area too St.Elizabeth really has a lot to offer both in farm land and manufacturing companies such as food possessing and technology research programs finding ways to improve and increase international business significantly in Jamaica so all these young people will be able to find common interests and how to make themselves better instead have to be turning to crime because they don't see any way out, trust me they all feel they are not in a modern world, leaders needs to lead in a positives way,Jamaica Land we Love. Thanks again Fire Reid Big Up

I first visited St. Elizabeth in December 1984 and eventually lived there from November 2006 until December 2008. As a middle aged Englishman with silver-grey hair I was quite noticeable. One day I went into the Shoppers Fair supermarket in Junction and as I walked towards the rear of the store I passed three young ladies standing chatting with each other in the middle of the aisle. As I was looking in the frozen food cabinet one of the aforementioned young ladies came alongside me and asked if I was a Montegoen. I said that I was unsure what that was so she explained that it was someone from Montego Bay. I laughed and said that I was in fact English and although I used Montego Bay airport to go in and out of Jamaica I actually lived only a short distance from Junction in Southfield. I asked if she lived locally and she replied Ballards Valley, which of course I was familiar with. We exchanged a few pleasantries and eventually went our separate ways. I never saw her again as not long afterwards my dear wife, who came from Treasure Beach, tragically passed away in Black River hospital and I returned to London where I have lived ever since. I am not a good judge of age but I would say that the young lady was perhaps around 20 or so at that time and consequently will now be in her early 30s. I have often wondered if she still lives in Ballards Valley and remembers our brief encounter. Oh well, never mind. Sigh.

Bìg up Fire Reid, I am from St Elizabeth, went to Black River High School, and had lots of classmates and school mates who came from that side known as South. From Flaggaman, Ballards Valley,Top hill, Junction, Downs etc. Ì went to side once, because I had a family member who used to live in Nain and used to work at Alpart. SO we drove to nain one day via Black River, and we passed through some of the communities that I mentioned earlier, but that what almost over 2 decades ago.
