The style of ballet Dunun playing originated from the drum and dance performance troupe in Guinea back in the 1960's.
At that time, there were easily 20 or 30 dancers in the troupe, but only a handful of 5 or 6 drummers. So there were never enough Dunun players around! And they just had to try to maximize the ability to cover all 3 Dunun parts (Sangban, Kenkeni, Dununba) together into 1 ballet Dunun role.
Here's our demo for rhythm Makru, of the Susu people, with rhythmic break taught by Mamady Keïta.

A big shoutout to @beyerdynamic for their awesome mics! Great to have dedicated djembe and Dunun mics. The clamps and hinges are also very versatile and solid. We love it!
