olesya novikova is one of the most beautiful and greatest ballerinas of the world from the marrinsky ballet as a first soloist and as a prima ballerina .so i want to ask you if there is the complete swan lake with olesya novikova and alexander sergeev and if there is one please tell me the site which i can see it

I think her performance is honest and beautiful - if you judge her Odette by a double ronds it is your loss.

You were there when this ballet was originally performed? There is still such a thing as Artistic license - especially for ballet's such as Swan Lake. Her rendition is beautiful - double ronds or not.

@sangfroidjen Because that's what they asked of her for the choreography. Whomever choreographed this staging only wanted one. Plus it's extremely hard to do the double. They may have adjusted for her though I more than doubt it's the latter.

KYPIAKH. I have been told that a DVD of the complete swan lake with Olesya and Sergeev can be bought in russia, region 2, but I cannot attest to that. In any case, it's not useable in region 1, the US. You can find brief segments of Swan Lake with Ms. Novikova as soloist, here on KZbin. And of course you should watch her brief Giselle variation and rehearsal, also on KZbin

Gordon Ackerman don't mind and thnx if i go to Russia i will buy it and i want to ask something else the DVD you can buy it from everywhere that sell cd's and that things or i must go somewhere specific and i say it again if i go to russia and thnx again

The Mariinsky Ballet and Orchestra will tour the U.S. and Canada in Sept. and Oct., 2015, and I hope to be at all their performances so that I may witness the incomparable Ms. Novikova from $350 orchestra seats.

yes, rond de jambe en l'air is heart and soul of this act. but i believe this performance came at the latest leg of her struggling season after maternity leave. i remember in those days how her Gamzatti was lifeless.

That may be so but whoever was her coach at this time was okay with her doing singles and the artistic director let it happen so maybe they deviated from the standard and were trying something new.

I think Novikova is a beautiful dancer, but she doesn't shine in the role of Odette. She lacks the drama and pathos. She is far better as Raymonda or Dulcinea.

She seemed so nervous. In many instances she was definitely not on her leg and this caused her to fall off her pointe abruptly and taking extra steps instead of rolling through and placing her foot down. Love Novikova but this wasn't her best at all.

Un giro? Due giri? Questa è una delle più grandi ballerine degli ultimi decenni, mortificata in seconda fila fino a farle preferire quattro gravidanze al palco. L'unico vero problema è che è sotto impiegata e spesso per i ruoli meno opportuni. Una ballerina cosi brillante la metti a fare Esmeralda, non il dramma ottocentesco. Inoltre il marinski perfetto dal punto di vista tecnico sembra repressivo dal punto di vista artistico. La interpretazione del Don Quichotte del 2007 fa vedere di cosa è capace la Novikova, chiaro che se c'è una regia di plastica anche la libertà interpretativa viene cassata, in favore di un medio standard adatto alle neo diplomate con poca ispirazione, come la Khoreva.
