"The Finis Jhung Ballet Technique Level 1 Centerwork for Beginners." Demonstrated by Isabella Boylston. Exercise 11. Half-turn en dehors. Now we practice turning to the R standing on the L foot, which makes it an outside turn. This is the most important part of the preparation for the pirouette en dehors - turning the preparatory plié from a fourth position to a diagonal second. In other words, you turn the plié to the back toe. This is a big challenge for absolute beginners, but it's best to start early on as it will take many classes to develop a perfectly balanced pirouette. Remember, if we can go the moon and back, you can turn around on one foot on the floor! Buy the DVD on Amazon. Stream it at finisjhung.com
