ballgloveking....
Our new glove break in method is officially my favorite approach. Nothing beats good ole catch but the room temperature water helps a ton!
Just to be clear I am generally disappointed with this pattern from Steelo but the break in itself went perfect!

@@ballgloveking it’s awesome to see you and your dad playing catch Chris! My dad didn’t play as big of a role in my life as I wished I played baseball when I was younger but due to our relationship, he never got to watch me play or play catch with me. Now that I’m older I’ve got into playing slo pitch but unfortunately I lost my dad due to heart attack on new years and won’t get the opportunity to have that bond with him. My son is going to be 6 this year and baseball is our passion and I never miss an opportunity to play catch with him to give him the memories I wish I had growing up Cherish moments with your family and loved ones every day! And for the love of the game 🥎⚾️

i wish i had my dad to play catch with 😢. My dad passed away a few years ago but i would do anything to just have some time to play catch with him again. For those who read this, If you still have your dad don’t take him for granted. if you can’t play catch with him at least sit down and watch and talk baseball with him. Your videos have brought back some memories of me and my dad breaking in gloves when i was playing so thank you for the work you put into them my brother. God bless!!

I’ve only broke in one glove this way before. Playing primarily first base as well as 3rd and left field I guess I just caught so many balls that my gloves always broke in quickly. It wasn’t until I spent my own money on a glove that I really liked that I took the time to shape it and break it in.

This is probably out there somewhere but after doing all the normal pounding and water, know you have to hit the dry glove to re-loosen it and I decided to try out using my theragun type of massage gun with a bigger ball tip on it and actually went great to loosen up the glove more.

Love the video! Any advice for an Irish guy, who's new to baseball on breaking in a Rawlings Player Preferred budget range glove (12.5"), mostly on their own? Aside from the mallet poundings, are there any good solo catch drills to help break it in and build hand strength to make it close properly? The sport is very uncommon here so playing catch with a team mate is only available every few weeks at practice and none of my local friends are into the sport or will even consider it 😢 How would you toss a ball and catch it to get the shapes shown in your video? Thanks!

We recently got a 44 Pro catcher's glove and no amount of any of these techniques have helped. It's not the break-in techniques, I'm sure these all work GREAT for any other glove, but the 44 Pro catcher's mitt is a BEAST and I do NOT recommend it. If I could return it, I would. There's no way my 13-year old can use his fancy, customized mitt in a game and that's a shame because he was really hoping to have a sweet piece of gear to use as he becomes the starting catcher on his team. I really believe even with broken in leather, this thing is just physically tough to close based on how it's made. I guess we're off to Dick's to buy him a glove he can actually use.

Is that the Haga Japan "old faithful" Mizuno that came out a few months back at the beginning of the video? How the hell do you get your hand inside of it? I bought one and had to return it. I couldnt get my hand all the way in. Super small and tight. Beautiful glove just too small.
@13ranzz
@13ranzz 11 ай бұрын
Japanese have smaller hands, so naturally they make the inside of the gloves slightly smaller. But also, I'd prefer a snug fight as it will stretch overtime with use. You can even submerge a glove in hot water, and use mallet work with your hand inside.. it will "conform" to your hand size. Like a custom fit. All gloves I buy are made in Japan for quality and fit.
@dinobravo23
@dinobravo23 11 ай бұрын
@@13ranzz Yeah, I completely understand that they are smaller people in general and it makes sense that the glove would be on the smaller side, its just seriously small for my hand. I have other "small" gloves but this one is ridiculous. You wouldve laughed if you saw it on my hand. I wish It were a bit bigger as I wouldve kept it. Oh well...

this dual hinge is so contrary to all my gloves I ever broke in....and catching the ball in the palm seems like a waste of the whole deep pocket...I get the quick transfer but also balls coming at 100+ mph and hitting a quarter inch of padding is a sure way to hurt your hand...I am old school who has played slow pitch for the past 40 yrs and a deep pocket to catch balls in the outfield and first base is/was a priority...why have a 13-15 inch glove and use the palm????...just me I guess but i do use the water method to speed up the break in...I also use a heavy ball to form the "pocket" in the upper end of the glove too...love your videos but it is going to take some work to get me to switch to 2 hinges and flared thumbs and pinkies...and 2 in the pinky also
