I am blessed to own more than 1 Car. and 1 is an x3 although not the M40i version.. But it is a fantastic car for the wife, she feels safer with it being slightly higher and bigger. it goes well and its super comfortable. even though the wife now thinks we only need the x3 :) thanks Matt :) that is a quick little x3 for sure great job by the guys at Haus of power.. but what a fantastic review as always, and gives people who can only afford the one car a real option to keep him and her happy ... not to be sexist of course .. BMW

The 23 M240i has a stronger engine, the same as in the Supra. BMW have locked the DMEs on the 22 & 23 models, so it might be tough to get it tuned.

Xdrive is no joke and is the main reason why the car has so much traction. I’ve just been driving a 2017 M240 Xdrive with a pure800 turbo, making around 550 whp. Zero wheelspin with Firestone Indy 500 tires.

Cool video. But LOL common man your reply is that the M40i hits 185 mph easily. Where is this done? After 170mph it takes forever to get up to high speeds. Also you said it does under 3 seconds 0-60 mph. I mean that is ridiculous as BOOTMOD3 has the world record for M40i. Not trolling just want to clear things up. Keep doing your thing G.

Thanks for your comment and i appreciate your support! When I review cars, I simply repeat the information given by the owner. It's impossible to verify the claimed performance stats but i believe they're close.. The Bootmod3 world record car had only a stage 2 E30 tune, with just a downpipe on the stock fuel system (approx 430 whp) . This car has the downpipe, TU HPFP and has the MHD stage 2+ E40 tune which is closer to 500whp and is noticeably faster than E30.

I think you can. I believe the 2021 and newer models need their DME unlocked before they can be tuned.

@@TheSpeedAddiction 2020s manufactured before June can be easily unlocked. It's after June 2020 that the encrypted, locked DMEs started. Still have to mail the ECU to Finland to get them unlocked and then BMW could still apply an update that requires them to be sent to Finland all over again... The early 2020s are the sweet spot as you get the first of the Gen2 B58 TU engines but without the encrypted DME lock.

I’d echo both of you. You give it a good run. It it’s an incredible and effortless vehicle to run. I have a stage one on it and I’m considering doing a stage two and that’s how I came across this video. Stage one I have it down to four seconds 0 to 100 so the stage two would definitely be bringing it down to low threes like you said, and this car sticks to the road and definitely keeps up with very high and sports cars.

Pretty much a tuned M40I starts where the X3M starts base. X3M have a S58 and not the B58. For the price difference and more comfort people generally opt out of comp based on all the threads I’ve read. B58 has been by far the most enjoyable engine and overall driving experience I’ve ever have had.

I’ve never driven an SQ5 but according to what I’ve read, the X3 handles a lot better. I would test drive them both and decide. I would personally go for the M40i.

No. In B58 terms, stage 2 is the stock turbo. Stage 2 means a tune and downpipe. Stage 2 + means a tune, downpipe and upgraded high pressure fuel pump.
