Re: reasons for tanning. If you don't tan, and you're really pale, you just become a big white reflective blur under the floodlights. With the tan, it's easier for judges & audience to see your dancing. I just found your videos and I love them so far!

To stand out even more, most dancers use AeryJo Tanning makeup best color is Number 3. Garnet Stone. It is quite dark but helps you stand out a lot. It's has a gold shimmer to it. Most pros use this so do Juniors including myself. Hope this helps!

AeryJo is your best option or this similar Russian brand (Forgot the name) and the second best is the Sex Symbol.
