How can I adapt this to American Rumba?
@ballroomwithalexey39515 жыл бұрын
American rumba technic is deferent , you transferring you weight on a bend knee and develop your hip action while straightening knee. I might shoot a vide on that top later :)

@@ballroomwithalexey3951 I went ahead and started using this routine as a rumba drill routine, except I'm using American style hip action instead of International since that's what I was taught in. Seems to be working well so far. The first thing that was weird for me, though, was that International apparently starts on the 2 while American starts on the 1, so that kind of threw me off when trying to dance it to actual music. I suppose I could always dance it to International timing but with American style hip action, but I didn't want to get used to starting on the 2. Also, I was also taught the slow-quick-quick timing in American rumba. When trying to adapt this routine, it seems this routine starts with quick-quick-slow timing. But since apparently SQQ and QQS are both valid American rumba timings, that's ok I guess. My girlfriend was a ballroom instructor for a year, and the studio she was at made her do the QQS timing, which always felt odd to me.
