Bally Supersonic Restore Timelapse

A long form restoration timelapse of the playfield and assorted components of a 1978 Bally Supersonic. Part 1 covers the playfield and part 2 will finish with the playfield being installed and the machine coming back to life after who knows how many years of being inoperative.

I have one of these original Supersonic Bally Pinball Machines down in my finished basement. Found it at a place selling and repairing Pin Ball machines during the mid 1980’s in New Jersey. I paid $200 for it in great shape. It is still down in my finished basement. I haven’t played it in awhile but the last time I did everything was working fine. The reason I purchased this one was earlier on in the late 70’s there was one in a tavern a friend of mine own and I always liked it. So when I spotted the one I have I had to buy it. This one in the video with the man hours involved must of cost a mint to do.

The pre-cut lexan protectors I've seen for sale allow a lot of space around posts, and I think they're supposed to not touch anything except the playfield itself. I'm told that this allows them to expand/contract with temperature and not lift up from the surface. Is that how you made this one, not to touch any posts, rails, etc. and if not, have you observed any lifting?

It’s locked down under the pop numbers, but floats everywhere else. I still hate Lexan protectors and can’t wait for the hardtop. I’ll be redoing this one when it’s available.

The Bartered Bride! I want to make my own Lexan protector for my Pinbot, how thick a sheet did you use? Did you use a Dremel bit to cut it, I can't really tell from the video since it all goes by so fast.

Just because I was asked and because I'm curious - how long did the actual restore take - Part 1 AND Part 2??

Total hours was probably just north of 30 or so. Ive gotten a bit more efficient since. You can save time with sonic cleaners and polishing tumblers etc.
