Balmain Tigers 1988 Season Review: Part 1

The mid 1980s had been an exciting time for the Balmain Tigers. Spearheaded by a generation of talented tyros, the club had become a regular finals contender during the middle of the decade, making four out of five post-seasons between 1983 and 1987.
However, despite their strong showings during both the regular season and two National Panasonic Cup titles, the club had struggled in September, winning just two finals games during that same period.
Heading into 1988, the clubs’ key players were starting to hit their peak, and there was pressure on them to qualify for their first Grand Final since 1969...

They played themselves son. The air of arrogance and, more importantly, the sense of entitlement during the 89 grand final week was telling. Balmain really thought that losing the year before to the Dogs was their passport to victory in 89. No way. That final 5 minutes of 89 GF normal time, then the extra time demolition is still one pf my fondest rugby league memories.

@@hemanag1020 2019 was more enjoyable personally. Pity it had to be Roosters of all teams putting Raiders in thier place. Pity Bill Harrigan wasnt still refereeing, Raiders always enjoyed that one man advantage.

Man, im a raiders fan since 85, then i became a Warriors fan in 95, im a kiwi/Maori so that should explain my loyalties. I was never a fan of Gary Freeman, as a Tiger, or a kiwi, his refusal to come off the team bus in England due to the inevitability of the young champion Stacey Jones taking over the halfback jersey, showed a lack of maturity which belied his numerical age. But these pieces are so interesting to watch, im almost feelin sympathy for theTigers😂 Benji set things right😂 cmon the Dolphins, lol...

Bloody hell, how many teams do you have. Dont blame you for ditching the Raiders though. And the Wiz was a legend. He was the only one on fox to call out that fat idiot Tallis.
