Their 1977 British Mil' Spec Paratrooper redux is a great watch...one of my favourites to wear.

Octopus kraken is better. Smiths is phenomenal.

I have the Octopus version. I had the San Martin one first but I sold it for the octopus 🐙 version because of that black glossy dial.

Baltany explorer is superior to Octopus Kraken et al in terms of crystal and distinctiveness (Octopus is just a boring straight copy of the R Explorer, but at least Baltany brings amber dial to the table), and IMO finishing of Baltany superior to Smiths. Smiths clasp is perhaps even more irritating than Baltany clasp Replace 36 mil amber dial Baltany clasp with an easily obtained slimmer milled clasp from aliexpress and you have pretty much ultimate Explorer style piece
