@@jutah Completely disagree with your opinion on Baltimore. I've been going there since I was 17. Over a decade. Because of the extreme heat I understand you not getting out of the car. But you didn't drive through the nicer areas at all. It CERTAINLY does not feel like Detroit. I wanted to give Detroit a chance, but it's not a at all walkable. Baltimore has lots of nice little areas to walk around. You didn't even go around the Inner Harbor. I don't get it.

Never fully believe what the media tells you. It’s always driven by propaganda to get ratings. My rule of thumb, whenever we visit a big city like Baltimore, is to do my own research as to where and where not to go.

Bonne visite !

Definitely not regressing. I'm assuming you just stayed in the downtown area? If you did, that's not the hotspot for development right now (atm) Go to Port Covington (Baltimore Peninsula), Fells Point or Brewers Hill and then you'll see how rapidly the city has and is changing lol.

@@jutah That was North Ave. The direction you were going was heading towards Baltimore cemetery and that area gets really sketchy, really fast. Most of the multi-family on that street was in the opposite direction around Station North (the neighborhood you were in around the 57:00 minute mark). If you stayed on that northbound road for another 1-2 miles (instead of booking a right) it would have brung you to Charles Village, Johns Hopkins (university), Remington area which are acts as a mini downtown in itself, high-rises and all.

I’m a huge fan of The Wire, so much so that I’ve watched the entire season multiple times. With that said, please don’t let the media fool you into believing the entire city is like that. Of course, like any major metropolitan city, there’s parts that you want to avoid. A Google internet search will help with determining where those are. But the majority of the city looks nothing like what you saw in The Wire.

Been going there a very long time. Like any other city in America, you need to be aware of your surroundings. That being said was able to party there and brunch there just fine since 2010. A friend of mine lived there from 2005. They are white bread and not too street smart. They never had a single issue. The comparisons to Detroit make no sense since Detroit, the motor city, has never been walkable.
