East of here there is another train park and it has double intersections. Deshler was the first time I had seen that too. I was riding a bike cross country solo and 6 miles north had hurt my back. Spent a couple days there resting my back. Great people there too. I then spent a night at the other train park. Made the trip to NYC and caught a plane back home. Denver, it took 13 weeks and 2 days from Denver to NYC. Had a blast.

You should get the history of that building you shot at 17 seconds into the video. It is an amazing history. Once the largest hardware store in the country, with six carloads of freight being delivered daily and covered loading areas for horse-drawn wagons.

I wish Deshler Diamond had a revitalization, or at least a restoration of the railroad buildings that once played a part to the ole’ Baltimore and Ohio Railroad intersection. It’s such an amazing piece of American history, it makes me a bit sad to see so many broken down and abandoned buildings. I plan on visiting here when I get a chance next summer.

How & why do some inter-modal carriages have only one set of 4-wheels carrying the tail-end of one carriage and the front of the following carriage (one set is rolling between the two carriages). Other carriages have two sets of wheels (4+4) so that one set is under the tail end of a carriage, and the second set (4) is under the front of the following carriage. How and why does this work?
@JawTooth7 жыл бұрын
Because some railroad cars have several sections per car. Some railroad cars appear to be 3 or 5 separate cars when in reality they are only one railroad car. These cars are common in America. They will have a set of wheels at each end and between each unit of the car. Therefore some railroad cars can carry up to 10 containers per car! The customer gets a better price that way. I hope that explains it.

I used to live in Deshler. I still visit my dad there. Most of the buildings that don’t have major damage are still very much in use. The factory looking building seen in the first 30 seconds of the video has been removed and the depot (across the double tracks) is going to be torn down soon despite protest from the entire town
