It's funny how reporters are always asking politicians and law enforcement why can't YOU stop this violence. How about interviewing parents/family of these perpetrators of crimes when they are apprehended. I have 3 sons 27, 22, and 20. My wife and i always kept them in sports and other activities. We instilled positive values and a work ethic in our sons. We always explained to them that they not only represent our family but the black community as well. I hate to say this, but stop having children if you are not going to be a positive influence in their lives. Get your tubes tied or a vasectomy and have all the sex you want. It's ridiculous.

I worked for over twenty years in rehabilitating inner city kids enthralled in gang life and violence. We were very effective on changing the perspectives of the kids we worked with using the same mentality as this mayor speaks of. It takes a community to instill change. I would work for this mayor in a heartbeat! He is making an impact and I hope he accomplishes his goals collectively with his community. Great job mayor and keep plugging away. You will get there!

Its all about the parents, parents should be held liable by law for the wrong doings of their offspring, they should be sentenced to community service. I think of the Morants and how Ja's immaturity is goes uncheck by his parents and looking at his sister by way she presents herself on court with extra short shorts I can tell there are little rules in the house. Being a talent basketball player is not upstanding accomplishment, its a hobby and pastime.
