The beauty of songbirds can be so calming and enjoyable to listen to EXCEPT at 3am in the morning! I had this mocking bird in our backyard who must've been the unluckiest bachelor. He would sing and sing and sing ALL DAY AND NIGHT. This went on for months. Out here in Los Angeles out summer nights are rather warm so we sleep with the windows open and when you focus on a certain sound late at night it becomes deafening. Eventually we assumed he finally got a mate or laryngitis.

Yeah, been there! I prefer the mate theory, but laryngitis would give you some satisfaction anyway.

I love their defence displays. My little flock of Orioles ate jelly nonstop!! I made many trips to the grocery store for many jars of grape jelly. Both, male and female were fascinating to watch. They were regular little stars of my feeders , for a while .🤩

Maybe next year you'll get lucky enough to have a pair stay to nest. 🙏

I have a few in Arkansas and they have a very loud but beautiful song.Different than the others.Wish I had more. They do love grape jelly more than oranges on my farm.I just got tired of the jelly molding when I was not around. They also will visit the hummer feeders and alot of times that will be my 1st sighting after hearing their song.More great info from ya.

We don't get them in our yard--too far from rural areas. But I intend to get more film on these beauties this spring at the house of a friend who gets them. I'd like to do a longer movie about them.

Ever see an Oriole in your area? I’m across the river in Belleville and bought an oriole feeder and I have oranges and grape jelly out for them!

Chrissy, this film was shot at a friend's house in St. Peter's (It's the only one so far not shot in our yard. And yes, my friend Emily has a nesting pair every year. In Ferguson, we are less likely to have the Orioles show up, though I plan early next April to try the grape jelly to see if our occasional Oriole visitor will notice it.

I have seen on Baltimore Oriole in our big Pin Oak over the 30 years here in Ferguson... Great film,,, or digital recording I suppose.. Dave

They do glow - indeed. And what a sweet tooth they have. I assume that is what makes them so 'sweet' to gaze upon. Did you end up with a nesting pair? (Chrissy)

Those filthy House Sparrows ruined the whole experience.

I love all birds, even nasty Turkey Vultures, annoying House Sparrows, or mean Blue Jays
