Not-So-Fun Fact: Victory Leo’s flight mode was not originally part of his design. It was made up for the Victory anime by the production staff fiddling with the toy. The same way they came up with Sixshot’s Wingwolf mode, Overlord’s Super Jet mode and Black Zarak’s Hydra mode.

On one hand, non-retail budget makes a Haslab toy the best it could be (in this economy). On the other hand, the limited time window was the biggest exclusive FOMO. Maybe Haslab can do second made-to-order runs of past successful toys.

Especially since so many were lost/destroyed when the shipment for china/taiwan got litteraly sunk in a bad storm. So the original numbers that were suposed to be out there are quite a bit less thanks to that A second run would probably make those people happy too.

But it also brings an opportunity for the other Japanese characters that haven't yet gotten representation here in the west yet , both haslab have shown there is a market for these type of characters and its fruits have already been seen within legacy .

No matter how people view the haslab Victory Saber and Deathsaurus good or bad there no denying that these two haslab were very successful and they have shown to big wings at Hasbro that the Japanese characters do have a market here in the west and it's fruits have already shown with the characters we gotten in 2022 and are getting soon in 2023 and I definitely do believe this is not the last time we're going to see Star Saber and Deathsaurus here in the west .

I genuinely believe getting Boater and Pipo as a bonus on Deathsaurus is Hasbro's way of saying "thanks for showing us there IS a market for these characters that are relatively unknown in the west."

Balt the sword does store in the vstar. It goes in either leg of star saber. You cant miss the slots on the side of the leg

I fortunately got a set without much QC issues. Other than the micromasters and that's from being molded so many times (the two that come with Deathsaurer thankfully will be new molds). Since I have Tricranius I had no shortage of blast effects to fill the guns and cannon.

Nice. Until today, I’ve always had a terrible time trying to get Star Saber to hold his sword without collapsing the handle back in to the jet part. Never realized it had a final clicking point to help lock it in to place. You’re the first person I’ve seen mention that bit. Also, I just checked and the knees on mine aren’t floppy like yours. You might want to contact Hasbro and see if they can do something.

OMG The VS that I opened has wobbly knees as well. I was going to do some surgery on it or see if the other one was better. I'm not going to bother now. I did order the dk parts even thought I shouldn't have too. I also feel like I have 2 out of 3 good figures. Vic Leo seems like it was an after thought (hey we just need it to transformer into platforms, they won't complain about the brick ship mode lol). I hope they took notes for Deathsaurus from these videos. Other than that I'm happy with my platform boot wearing bot. 🙂 Great Vid! Happy New Year Everyone!

Hmm, not sure I remember well, but was it not at the end of headmasters that when the transtector got it's own spark and left Ginrai behind, that it actually was Convoy who took over the body?

While the figure does seem pretty high quality, I'd actually prefer if some company finally did a bit of revisioning on Victory Saber. There's nostalgia for some in screen accuracy, sure, but imagine what the figure could be today if Victory Leo had a more proper jet mode and the combined mode had better leg proportions. Those shins are massively derpy in all honesty.

Definitely one of the top transformers toy for 2022!! I hope Hasbro stops making hollow molds for transformers but otherwise, I'm sure Deathsaurus will be fantastic as well.. looking forward to my VS and Deathsaurus!!👍

34:41 Balt you mixed up your goof, you're supposed to fold those back panels down over Star Saber black arm bits, especially since there are tab slots on those arms and tabs on the cannon's back panels.

(weeze) And a pair of ultra mega deluxe stabilizing earth shattering feet. ...snickers Lmao! I don't think I could say that either with a straight face or burst without bursting into laughter for very long. I know that's suposed to emulate the super sentai combining mecha power ups that Japan loves using. But why only a backpack and feet? You would have thought there would be other combining parts like chest head, arms, etc. Grant it this would make the other modes for Victory Leo very difficult if not impossible. Or for modern engineering would reduce it to super sentai posibility, or a super high priced master collectors figure past masterpiece budget.

Sorry to say Balt but you might want to look at the hip transformation joints on your Victory Leo, the reason they don't hold might be because the plastic is marred and there's nothing for the tab to hold on to. Happened with mine and a few others.

my saber has a bad shoulder joint that keeps popping off and the red button dosent work quite as good as it should. The lower leg panel never wants to stay in place and getting the wrist to connect to the knee when transforming the star section is a pain along with the wrists. in addition i have all the same issues you do. do i think they ripped us off with this? YES! ive gotten better stuff out of $10 easter baskets at walmart. to all who paid for this my sympathies.

At the 11 minute mark you mention the imbalance of the flight stand. I had the same issue until I turned it 180 degrees to distribute the weight better. The arm is still too floppy in my opinion, but at least the base was more stable.

Woke up with a massive headache and I see this. To be honest Balt, I have to say that I do love watching your reviews, but I am really not in the mood, so my apologies beforehand. You know, I read in another comment section that the Police Car Micromaster is misassembled, the hips are apparently backwards? If that is the case, then why does no one unscrew the figure and flip the part around? I know it's stupid that on a figure this expensive, there should be better quality control, but if it is that easy to fix, why hasn't anyone done it? Unless the hip component is attached in another way that I am unaware of. Not like I'm going to waste the money and find out. I find that I really don't care for Saber's base form. Like, I get it, he's like a super robot from Brave, but why can't he just be Star Saber the entire time? I love the Gundam aesthetic, and I've really grown tired of the friendly little robot turning into the badass robot once an episode for two minutes trope. Imagine how bad it would be if Big O did that. Maybe the shield would peg in if you took off the handle. It looks like that is pushing it up in other images I've seen. Wait, do you not know that the sword stores in the side of the leg? There's literally a slot for it on either leg. I hate Victory Leo, I hate him as much as I hated Ginrai. Fucking Convoy wannabe. Maybe I just hate the person who turned into Ginrai, I don't know. Could have been a girl, then maybe I would've liked the character, but no. Can't have a Magical Girl with Optimus Armor in a Japanese show for boys. Oh the humanity! I don't know where that came from, sorry for rambling. I just know that this figure is bad. Victory Leo's wings are actually supposed to be folded up for every mode except the Victory Saber combination, but to be honest, I'd leave them out too. Since when did clips and slots both become "Connector Ports"? I really don't like how adding the boots throws off the proportions of Star Saber. And I'm someone who can forgive when a Transformer doesn't have human proportions. Probably made more sense in animation, but as a physical toy that just doesn't look right. Giving me really bad Sentai Mecha flashbacks. "Look, I know I've been kicking your ass up and down this city for the last six episodes, but now that I'm a good guy can I combine my mecha with yours?" "Boots only." Honestly, I'd prefer Deathsaurus, and I know he'd be just as bad as this. Just give me Armada Optimus already so I can be on my way Hasbro.

Why are people so obsessed with star Sabre? Is it one of those things where you have to watch the whole show to appreciate him? I mean, Sabre himself just looks like Jazz's head from the marvel comics slapped on a different body. And Star Sabre's kind of...Bland? In contrast to deathsaurus.

The one I got was complete garbage. Same low quality as what they sell at the store. Floppy, loose, bad paint. The only part of this overpriced toy that was nice was the packaging. Couldn’t get rid of mine fast enough!!
